Book Blurb

Josh wants wealth and good fortune, without all the trouble of hard work. When he summons a demon as a quick and easy way, he gets more than he anticipated he would.

Book Review

A morally bankrupt advertising executive named Dante who turns out to be a demon, a greedy young man named Josh who intends to get rich without lifting a finger, and some demon law that means Dante gets called up instead of his cousin (exorcised by chanty monks in 1893) make for a hilarious story that had me laughing from the start.

The deal Dante comes up with is not at all what Josh expected, but the fact that he used a really bad translation of the conjuring means he made mistakes he didn’t even know, can’t control Dante once he appears, and has very little choice but to do exactly as the demon demands. As it turns out, the result of their, ahem, activities is effective – but not in the way either of them expected. The final twist is as devious as they get and made me laugh all the harder.

If you like your Halloween stories with a demonic touch, if you want to watch a very modern, coffee-obsessed demon and a somewhat befuddled young man come to new insights, and if you’re looking for an entertaining read, then you will probably like this free short story.
