Book Blurb

Together for more than six years, lovers Jason and Bryan rarely see each other anymore. Their jobs are running them ragged and keeping them apart. It’s gotten so they barely even communicate.

But a trip to a winter cabin for a long weekend, a last-ditch effort to rekindle their romance, reveals a side to the two men the other never knew existed, and their weekend suddenly includes power-play games.

Is this new aspect of their relationship doomed to fail, or will it help them find what they both need to make their lives work again?

Book Review

Sometimes what we did when we were younger is best forgotten, or taken as a learning experience so we can move on. And sometimes what we left behind because we thought we had outgrown it is still relevant, and only rediscovering it will let us move on. The latter is what the main characters, Bryan and Jason, are facing in this story. They have lost touch with each other, because they have both put their careers ahead of their relationship. Luckily they still love their partner very much and are willing to give it one last go. Everything hinges on their four-day weekend in a romantic cabin in the woods, but only sheer coincidence gives Jason a hint of what might save them; one thruway comment from his side and Bryan’s reaction to it provides the key to their joint future and a return of happiness for both of them

Jason desperately wants to reconnect with Bryan. He knows they have both been working too hard, but now that he has pulled the family company out of trouble, he could slow down. Problem is, he needs Bryan with him and his lover is just too dedicated to his job. When Bryan won’t let go of replying to e-mails even on their trip to the cabin, Jason has had it. One comment about him tying Bryan to the bed, if he has to, suddenly charges the atmosphere with sexual tension between them. And while Jason had meant the comment just to get Bryan to keep his end of the bargain, suddenly it becomes more. Jason used to be a Dom, before work took over, and before he met Bryan, and he decides to see what going back to that side of him, so long suppressed, will achieve.

Bryan loves Jason more than he can say, but he is pretty certain Jason is about to end things. His job is killing him, and he doesn’t even like it anymore, but what else can he do? He is supposed to work for a living, right? Deep down he may admit that he is too stressed, and needs to let go occasionally, but he will not easily admit this to Jason. Bryan used to be able to let go when he was stressed, when he was in college and admitted to being a sub, and Jason’s comment about tying him up suddenly brings all of that back. But Jason can’t possibly be a Dom, can he? They have never hinted at kinky, never mind BDSM play. But once Jason starts, Bryan finds it awfully difficult to resist…

If you like stories about established couples trying to rekindle the love they once felt, if a little D/s between loving and very consenting adults seems like a good idea, and if you’re looking for a read that is as psychologically interesting as it is playful and hot, then you will probably like this short story.
