Books 1 & 2 of the Working Series.
Working Stiff
When Josh finds himself out of work he jumps at the job his cousin arranges even though he hasn't done construction in years. His muscles are sore, his body aching but that doesn't keep him from noticing Zane, the hot foreman on the project. But admiring your boss and sleeping with him are two different degrees of stupid. Josh steers clear of Zane until they are thrust together one weekend.
Working Hard
Josh and Zach may have chemistry in bed but can they survive once the reality of living together sinks in. Josh's new job makes demands that pull him away from Zach. When one of Josh's old friend starts to worm his way into their relationship everything gets tough.
Working Stiff
Josh loved New York and his job, but when he's laid off, he has to face the facts. It's a setback, but he's not defeated. Also, Josh isn't above taking any kind of job he can get until he can find another job in his field. When Josh shows up at the construction site where he's been offered a job, he knows it's going to be difficult, but he has construction experience and knows he can do the work. What he hasn't counted on, is his strong attraction to Zack, his boss. Josh needs this job and is determined to keep it so he's going to try to stay away from Zack as much as possible.
Zack needs help, but takes one look at Josh and wonders if he's made a mistake by hiring him. From the first time he and Josh shake hands, they feel a spark between them. Knowing dating an employee would be a bad idea, Zach tries to steer clear of his handsome new worker. Josh is an excellent carpenter and a loyal, dependable worker, besides being sexy as heck. Some days Zack wonders how he will ever be able to stay away from him. Although it's not what they want, Zach and Josh do their best to maintain a professional relationship.
When Josh notices a hazardous mistake in the project, he can no longer afford to keep his distance. Josh explains the problem, but Zach overreacts, at first worrying about losing his job and why he didn't notice it. The problem is solved with much less trouble than Zack thought there would be and Zack gains a greater appreciation of Josh for speaking up. Zach and Josh return to their avoidance of each other. Both men are miserable having to stay apart. What they need is an opportunity to bring them together.
I enjoyed this short, entertaining love story. It is well written with engaging main characters whom I couldn't help but like. If you like handsome, sexy men, construction workers, angst, and love, then you may enjoy this story. Thanks, Sara, for getting Josh and Zack together.
Working Hard
'Working Hard' by Sara York picks up on Josh and Zach's story from where the first book in the series left off. They've lived together for four months and, although things are still hot in bed, Josh begins to wonder just how well he knows Zach. He considers that they may have rushed things and don't know enough for the long haul; but Josh loves Zach and vows to find a way to bring them closer together.
Josh loves his new job, but hates how it keeps him away from Zach. It sometimes forces him to disappoint Zach, by not being able to be back when he promised he would. After coming home late from yet another, business trip that took longer than expected, insecurity wiggles its way into Josh's mind. He's disappointed when he comes home to an empty house instead of Zach's open arms. Josh calls Zach to tell him he's home and the phone rolls over to voice mail, making him feel a bit insecure. Josh begins to wonder if Zach is mad because he came home later than anticipated. Josh decides to plan a special night for them, which he hopes will help make up for the time he's been gone. When Zach gets home, he's amazed at the lengths which Josh has gone to, to make their time together extra special. It's a night which appeals to both of Zach's appetites—sex-wise and hunger-wise. Zach praises him and assures Josh he is not upset with him.
The next week, Josh has a business trip to New York and he invites Zach to go with him. He wants to give Zach a glimpse of what his life was like in the Big Apple, before they met. Zach happily agrees. While out clubbing at one of Josh's old haunts, they run into Rich, someone Josh knew before. Zach's reaction to Rich's hands on Josh is not a pleasant one, to say the least. Josh tries to explain that Rich is not important and how things are different there and don't mean the same thing as they would back home. Zach is still jealous, but he's also afraid he's not as exciting as the men in New York; Zach is afraid he's boring. Josh reassures Zach that he loves the life they have and wouldn't want to change it for anything.
Being able to visit with Josh and Zach again was a real delight. They are an amazing couple and it was good to see they are flourishing. When in bed, they are so hot they practically burn holes through the sheets with their passion and intensity. Those who read the first book in the series will like this one. As for readers new to the series, the second book could be read alone, but reading them in sequential order will make the second book even more enjoyable. If you like hot sex, devoted couples, temptation, and reassurance that true love does exist, then you may enjoy this story. Thanks, Sara, for giving Zach and Josh their happy ending.
