Book Review

Sometimes life interferes in a good thing, like a well established and happy relationship. And when people aren’t ready to fight for what they want or when they don’t know how much they want it, then they lose out – big-time. This is the case for Finn and Jared who let Finn’s job and a lack of willingness to commit separate them six years ago. Now Finn has moved back to where Jared always stayed, a chance meeting has new opportunities open up, and it’s almost Christmas. These two men are so obviously still in love with each other, I was rooting for them to figure it out and go for the second chance they have been offered.

Six years ago, Finn succumbed to the temptation of a new job and a different city. He left everything behind, but recently conceded that the grass isn’t always greener somewhere else. He has moved back, and one of his biggest hopes is to find Jared to see if what they used to have can be rekindled. With how well hidden Jared is due to an issue with a stalker, it’s a minor miracle Finn runs into him at all. Once he does, his full Dom-y determination to make Jared his again comes to the fore, and the “hunt” is on.

Jared has been lonely since Finn left. He wasn’t asked to go with him and doesn’t think he would have been ready, but still. A bad experience has left him uninterested in the lifestyle, but as soon as he runs into Finn, his old sub-y tendencies emerge. Not that he isn’t pushy and able to stand up for himself, but having Finn make him feel alive again is a dream come true. The one thing he is determined to avoid is getting his heart broken again. That - he can do without.

Reconnecting lovers can make for very romantic stories, especially when both partners want to pick up where they left off. There is very little angst in Finn and Jared’s tale, and I really enjoyed the focus on making sure they were still compatible in and out of the bedroom. A large part of the story is dedicated to their kinky activities, and with some snow outside and a warm fire inside, it is easy for them to relax into some very hot and loving pre-Christmas activities.

If you like reunions that allow lovers to reconnect, if you enjoy reading about two men who are made for each other, and if you’re looking for a read that is filled with pre-Christmas-y goodness, hot man-on-man loving, and heartwarming romance, then you will probably enjoy this cute, kinky novella.
