Jordan has his hands full running the publishing firm he saved from going under at the cost of his personal life. He doesn’t have time to date, but that’s not to say he doesn’t have needs.
Instead of trying to find a date, Jordan decides to contact a sex worker. He's never gone to one before, but maybe this is exactly how he can scratch that itch? When the man he's meeting turns out to be his high school crush, everything changes.
There's no way Gabe will ever see Jordan as more than another client, is there?
First edition published by Dreamspinner Press, October 2012.
Jordan and Gabe have both made mistakes, and it meant they never connected the way they both secretly yearned for. Both men have made choices in their lives they may regret, and even when they do manage to reconnect, it isn’t as easy as they might have dreamed. While this is a short, sweet story which feels a lot like a fairy tale, there is just enough backstory to give it some grounding in reality.
Jordan is a hard-nosed businessman by day and a lonely man longing for love by night. He has never stopped loving his best friend's elder brother, but 15 years later he is ready to have his first physical experience with a man. When it turns out to be Gabe (yeah, this is the improbable bit), he has no idea what to do. He knows what his heart wants, but he is so used to reality being harsh, and he hasn’t got a sensitive bone in his body, that he leaves. He doesn't realize what really happened that night until it is too late.
Gabe has made a set of choices he may regret, but he never held out any hope that Jordan might be his one day,. He became a prostitute and enjoys what he does, but meeting Jordan as a client is like a wake-up call for him.
The epilogue was like the icing on the cake. It was sweet and funny and left me with a smile. An unexpected but definitely very nice touch. If you like short, sweet stories with a little background but the focus firmly on today, if breaking hearts, angst, and lots of emotion are your thing, and if you like stories about years of longing and desperation finally over when the heroes miraculously meet again, you will probably like this short (free!) book.
