Argon is the new master of the body mods shop at the rebuilt Velvet Glove and he needs an apprentice. He’s hoping for someone who will not only want to learn how to pierce, tattoo, scar and brand, but who is interested in being his submissive as well.
Brother Yves arrives at the body mods shop on a mission from the clerics of Mount Bell. The cloister has been his only home and he is totally innocent. Scared and far away from home, he nonetheless forges forward and presents himself to Master Argon, insisting that he is destined to be with the man.
Are Argon and Yves too different to find common ground, or are they destined to be together forever?
First edition published at Torquere Press in March, 2014.
This second book in the Velvet Glove Resurrection series, just like the first, remains true to the spirit of the Velvet Glove books, while continuing to establish a new world with the characters who are now populating the rebuilt club, The grand opening is looming, and bit by bit new Master/sub pairings are forming in preparation for the big event. Two of my favorite characters, Jester and Hawk, have taken over the roles of club managers, but this second story focuses on Argon, who now runs the body mods shop and his apprentice, shy Brother Yves who comes from a convent.
Argon is a Master through and through. I loved the way he “interviews” for a new apprentice. One glance often suffices for him to reject men, and he doesn’t even try to be polite to those he just knows won’t work out. Yves is exactly right though, and Argon quickly hires him to help out in the shop, but in typical Master fashion, he wants him for more than just work and has the man move into his apartment. I was relieved he ended up being more lenient once he got to know Yves a little.
Yves has no idea what he’s letting himself in for. He is used to a life of quiet obedience (well, the obedience part comes in handy) and celibacy. Neither of those are in supply around Master Argon, but since Yves was sent to the Velvet Glove by the monks in his convent, he trusts that he is where he needs to be. He may be surprised at all the new things he learns and the sensations Argon shares with him, but he quickly sees what fun it can be to let some of the convent rules go.
If you're a fan of the Velvet Glove series and are looking for more, this series has made a very promising start. Again, like in the first book of this new series, the focus is more on the sensual side of BDSM, with some kinky play. I think this makes it accessible to readers who prefer their BDSM a little lighter and more on the fun and playful side. Looking forward to the next one!
