Book Review

This story possibly takes the ultimate award in having two people completely misconstrue each other. Plus, they never talk about it. Of course, with the super sizzling action between the sheets, on the staircase, in the washroom, who really has time to discuss anything? Brilliant, engaging, funny, tearful, and loaded with love, I was beguiled from the very beginning. Hats off to Larkin Rose, another Bold Strokes Books author, for masterminding this marvelous book.

Ashley Vaughn, a wannabe author, needs to reconstruct her audience as bald folks with bright red clown noses before she reads to them. She doesn’t appear or act as if she is so nervous, but good performances happen under the most curious circumstances using any tactic available. At this reading, she is additionally knocked off her pins by a woman in the shadows at the back whose penetrating eyes cut right through her. The key characters meet! The roller coaster ride has just begun.

Victoria Hadley, owner and accomplished chef of a 5 star restaurant, wanted to meet Ashley. She wants to do much, much more to Ashley, but all things must start somewhere. This opening scene in the bookstore was so deliciously perfect, I was not surprised at how intense and scintillating the rest of the book was. Even when things were going awry, the heat and tumult roaring within the main gals nearly overwhelmed me. Either Ashley or Victoria might have spoken their hearts and minds earlier. All things could have gone well, but then there would have been no book to read. 

My gut wrenched over and over as these two wrestled with themselves and their completely twisted innards. However, that was also one of the delightful charms of this ‘Vapor’, also the title of Ashley’s first published book and her second major strike against Vic. These women both needed to have their ass spanked to a brilliant red, however they did a pretty good number on themselves without my assistance. This is such a winner on so many levels I hope no one misses it!
