Liam Collins was finally getting comfortable with his job as the face of hermit-author Chase Preston. But when his curiosity gets the better of him, Liam is thrown into a dangerous situation. Through the ordeal, Liam realizes that deep down...he’s in love with Chase.

After Liam somehow manages to escape fatal danger, instead of having time to recover emotionally, he’s forced to come face to face with the fact that his father has passed away.

Will Liam’s journey home give him the courage to face Chase and prevent the same heavy regrets he holds for his father? Or will Liam’s internal turmoil change everything?

This is book four of a gay erotic romance novella series. Book one (Being Chase), book two (Following Chase), and book three (With Chase) have already been released.

Book Review

'Unraveling Chase' is the fourth installment in J.J. Scotts’s series 'Chase', and if it's anything similar to the previous three books, there will be revelations, arguments, hot and sexy physical attraction, some gentleness, and a cliffhanger at the end. So far, I've been fairly forgiving about these endings, mainly because I knew the next installment would snag me back again. But beware, Ms. Scotts, I won't be so understanding indefinitely! *muah hah ha*

This is a sad episode for Liam as he travels back to his childhood home after the death of his father. It brings a lot of memories to the fore, primarily the last one he has of his dad when they fought after Liam came out. It's painful, and a relief at the same time, when his mother shares with Liam the maturing she and his dad did after Liam left home. Their study of gender identity books, especially, in order to understand their son, and be able to support him. The few days that Liam gets to spend there with his mom, sharing memories, helps to relieve him of some of his guilt. And then it was time for Liam to return, and to face Chase. Because, if nothing else, he'd just learned the most valuable lesson of all—life is too short to not ask for what you want.

On Liam's drive back to the city, Nicole joins him, to give him some insight into Chase and why he behaves the way he does. She tells him the story of how Chase got his scar and, let me tell you, I wanted to smack someone at the end of it. Which was all compounded when she explained why her parents adopted Felix. Oh boy. I got a little angry. The reunion, so to speak, of Liam and Chase was not what I was expecting. Exactly. But, then to get Chase's perspective? Whoa. That was an eye-opener. And another heartbreaker.

I can't say that I was left with a cliffhanger. Well, not exactly, anyway. I was left with uncertainty, and I'm not so sure that is any better. I'll be looking forward to a resolution, and I sure hope it comes soon. Hint. Hint. Good job, J.J.!
