Alec and Christian have been back together for a year. Christian wants to celebrate this milestone because they’ve both been busy and stressed out for weeks. However, one thing after another keeps adding more stress to their situation. Christian knows they’ve come a long way and wants to keep moving forward in their relationship.
Alec loves how much Christian has changed and how much having Christian back in his life has changed him. They’ve worked through so many problems, and they’ve both grown in their relationship, but each time they find a moment to breathe, something else demands their attention. Alec just wants to build a home with Christian so their love can continue to grow, but he can’t help worrying that the pressures of life will never stop coming between them. When a new source of stress threatens to push him to the breaking point, Alec has to take action as he holds to his belief that their love is worth fighting for.
Stand-alone sequel to Switch Him Up
Be Warned: m/m sex, spanking, bondage, rimming
This is a great follow-on story for 'Switch Him On', looking at Alec and Christian's lives a year after they finally managed to clear up the misunderstandings that had led to their six-month separation. While they were definitely back together at the end of that book, with the best intentions to make it all work, we all know that reality is sometimes very different from what we wish would happen. 'Turn Him On' shows what they have learned in that year, what they're still working on and how different that is from what they used to do, and how they deal with the next crisis.
Christian was the one who originally panicked and ran away because he made incorrect assumptions about Alec being unfaithful, and he was the one who had been "too forceful", making Alec feel insecure and less than equal. It was heartbreaking to see him try so hard, even after a year, to do everything right, and to fulfill all of Alec's "conditions". He even stopped topping altogether, something he misses but has no idea how to bring up without risking everything. He loves Alec deeply, and has denied a big part of who he is so they can remain a couple. What he has to learn in this book is that his needs are just as valid as Alec's, and he needs to learn how to ask for what he wants just as much as Alec needed to learn to assert himself.
Alec is much happier now than he used to be, but he knew Christian has probably overcompensated for the sake of them staying together. It was great to see him pick up on that (which he would not have done a year earlier) and deal with the consequences. Interestingly, he is the one who has to deal with jealousy this time round, and seeing him do that in a uniquely Alec-way convinced me he had learned as much as Christian. The fact that their bedroom play now extends into all rooms of the house and is much more varied than ever before speaks volumes.
If you like stories about men who have been through a deep crisis and are recovering from it, if you like watching them deal with the next few obstacles life throws at them only to be impressed with how much better they are doing this time around, and if you're looking for a read with a bit of kinky play, then you will probably like this short story.
