Book Blurb

Freed from the Australian zoo where he was the subject of forced breeding experiments, Atticus makes his way to the tufted puffin grounds in California, only to find he may not be free after all. Atty is a loner, but he doesn’t want to fight the pull of a flighty surfer who gives his inked skin a pleasant, uncontrollable itch.

Scott has the sun on his face, the waves beneath him, and gratitude for every second of life he gets to embrace. Then Atty appears, and it’s like the universe has tuned his meditation bell to the perfect frequency.

The Tiki Pro surfing competition in Florida is calling to Scott, and Atty agrees to make sure Scott gets there safely. A cross-country road trip in the Hunny Wagon seems like a perfect way to live in the present and get tantric all at the same time.

But they aren’t making this trek alone.

Book Review

I'm going to say it. I have waited far too long for this fourth installment. There, I said it. I love ‘Peckers’ — the series, that is (of course, that's what I meant). These novellas are delightful, funny, filled with wonderful puns, and sweet, gentle, love stories. I was really hoping the author would return to Atticus whom I met in Mitch and Irwin’s book, and I just wanted Atty to find his own happy ever after.

I was a goner as soon as I met Scott. Picture Keanu Reeves with blond hair and doing the whole “righteous, dude”. Poor Scott had an accident and he suffers from anterograde amnesia so his memory isn't all that great. This works out well for Atty, Irwin, and Mickey, as Scott witnessed Atty shifting, but then couldn't remember it after a few moments. Dude! Totally! It's actually kind of sad for Scott because his phone reminds him hourly of the really important things. I can't begin to imagine how that must feel knowing you've said goodbye to hundreds of people that you can't remember and won't even if you meet them again. Sigh. Scott made my heart hurt just a wee bit.

Atty is bowled over by his gorgeous mate and more than happy to spend the rest of his life being Scott’s travel partner and wingman. Every minute he spends with the other man has him falling in love just a little bit harder. Now, how is he going to explain the shifting and mate thing? Granted, Scott is sensing some of the mate bonding, he just doesn't know what it is. I can't tell what happens with the shifter issue but I'll leave it at: Atty makes the decision that works the best for the two of them in their situation.

What a wonderful addition to the series. It was great to see some familiar faces and nice to know that UC Peckers is still going strong saving avian shifters across the world. I'm really hoping for more because now I need the answer to what is going to happen with Billy?
