Book Blurb

Maddox Wentworth was an alpha captured by a dragon clan, but what they don't know is that he and his friend Chris purposely gave themselves up. Their plan was to earn the trust of the dragons before escaping and returning to their alpha with information on the castle.

But that was before Maddox first saw the Dragon Warrior Quinten. In a moment of need, Quinten released Maddox from his cell and commanded him in battle, and without realizing it, Maddox made the strong man his alpha, and his mate.

Now, his loyalties have changed, and as he falls more and more in love with Quinten, his new mission is to somehow convince another alpha that he needs to go against his leader, that he needs to side with the dragons, before they are both labeled as traitors, and Maddox is taken from the best thing that's ever happened to him in his entire life.

Book Review

In this third book about the dragons and wolves of Crystal Mountain, much to my delight, the focus is on the alpha wolves captured during their invasion of the dragon castle. Clyde, the evil alpha of the pack, sent them to free the omegas originally made to spy on the dragons under the guise of mating them. But they hadn’t counted on the fierce resistance when the dragons defended themselves, and two of the alphas were taken prisoner. What the dragons don’t know, though, like me, they may suspect it, was that the alphas had been told to let themselves be taken prisoner, then spy on the dragons, and report back to Clyde. Nice, huh?

There is only one problem with the evil plan: one of the alphas, Maddox, has fallen for Quinten, his main dragon warrior guard, and is no longer willing to be a traitor. He had no idea switching loyalties was this easy, well, it was for him. But this puts Maddox in an extremely difficult situation, because he may be loyal to Quinten as his new alpha (in a pack of two), but whatever Maddox says or does, nobody will believe him. His other problem is the second alpha, Chris, who is still utterly loyal to Clyde. Maddox wants to convince him to switch loyalties as well, but Chris hates the idea, and only a fight will make him submit to whoever is the stronger man.

Quinten has fallen for Maddox as well, and slowly begins to trust him. They have spent a lot of time together, but when the relationship becomes physical, everything changes. But then everything falls apart, and Quinten has no idea what to think. His high dragon tells him one thing, his heart another, but how is he going to prove Maddox is who Quinten believes he is? Discussions take place, complicated  strategies are developed, but in the end, only a fight will be able to prove Maddox’s real loyalties. In true macho fashion, neither Quinten nor Maddox shy away from that particular event.

If you like the dragons and wolves series with its stories about loyalty, mating bonds, and how to be victorious against traitors and other enemies, if you think a dragon and a wolf can learn to get along despite having been enemies before, and if you’re looking for a hot read with some great macho posturing and wonderful suspense, then you will probably enjoy this novella.
