Book Blurb

Commander Jason Butler leads the crew of the ship, Viceroy, on missions against their enemy, the Cotillion. He thrives on the control his position gives him. Which is precisely why he absolutely refuses to act on the soul-consuming need he harbors for his best friend, and pilot, Caleb Leven.

Flight Lieutenant Caleb Leven knows damn well why Jason won't take the first step. The man bows to no one. Six months after Jason's girlfriend cheats on him, Jason's resistances melt away in one heated moment in his office.

But will this new development in their friendship last?

Story also appears in the Spinning the Top Anthology.

Book Review

Short, hot, and without any complications, this is the story of Jason, the commander who learns that giving up control in the bedroom (or rather, his cabin aboard the spaceship he commands) can be extremely pleasurable. And Caleb, the man who finally managed to get what he wants after ten years of friendship and three years of waiting for the right moment, truly excels at giving orders.

Jason’s love life, from what I got to see, leaves much to be desired. He has been with woman after woman, but none have been right for him. He does mention a man far back in his past, but he never seems to have understood that maybe he was looking among the members of the wrong gender for him. Probably because he sort of knew he’d be the one to relinquish control with the right man – and as a spaceship commander that isn’t easy for him. He needs to be able to trust whoever becomes his “Sir”, and that severely limits his potential.

In walks Caleb, a man he works with, and his best friend. Caleb knows how difficult it will be for Jason to give in, so he patiently waits for the right moment. Once he senses the time has come – he pounces and shows no mercy. Luckily that is exactly how they both want it!

If you like short, hot stories about men who struggle to admit what they really want, and if you’re looking for a read that is fun, entertaining, and sizzles with heat, then you will probably like this short story.
