Book Blurb

Trace has had a run of bad luck. He lost his job, his boyfriend of two years was cheating on him, and his apartment building burned right to the ground with all his worldly possessions.

So Trace heads for the ranch owned by his aunt Lois. But before he arrives, Lois is in a terrible car accident that nearly takes her life, and Trace finds himself in charge of the ranch kitchen. Sounds simple enough and it's the least he can do for his recuperating aunt.

Then Sawyer happens.

Sawyer is his aunt's sexy straight ranch manager. Meeting the man should have been okay, except it was in the middle of his aunt's kitchen at five in the morning and Trace was nearly naked. Then the next day Trace proceeded to set his aunt's house on fire and the brooding Sawyer comes to the rescue.

Not to mention Aunt Lois’s “accident” was actually attempted murder and it seems those same people want Trace dead, too.

Looks like Trace’s luck followed him.

How can Trace figure out who's trying to kill him AND keep Sawyer from finding out he's hot for the cowboy?

He probably can’t. But he’s going to try.

Book Review

“Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.” – Murphy’s Law

If you are lucky enough never to have experienced this generally accepted principle of life – at least for klutzes and those who seem to attract bad luck - and have wondered how this “law” works, then you need to read this book. Trace is a monumental trouble-magnet and goes from one catastrophe to the next accident with barely a moment to recover. Except… then Sawyer happened. Sawyer’s effect isn’t immediate, and that is the other reason you might want to read this story. While there is lots of drama, suspense, and attempts on more than one person’s life, there is also a beautiful love story. It’s full of hesitancy and misunderstandings, but at the heart of it, ‘Then Sawyer Happened’ shows how two men who never expected to find love, gradually fall or each other- no matter how many obstacles life seems to throw their way.
Trace has had such bad luck before he even makes it to his aunt’s ranch and meets Sawyer that I don’t even know where to start. He loses his job, his boyfriend cheats on him so he kicks him out, then his apartment goes up in flames. When he arrives in Texas to visit his aunt over the summer, she is in the hospital because someone sabotaged her car and she almost died. She puts Trace in charge of running the ranch – including making meals for the hands, taking care of the house, and financial oversight- but Trace can’t seem to get anything right. Mishap after mishap makes him look like an idiot, and when he falls for the straight ranch manager, a handsome cowboy called Sawyer, Trace just knows he is heading for disaster.

But when accidents keep happening, Trace begins to think his aunt is not the only one in danger. A threatening neighbor who wants to buy the ranch, a group of thugs who repeatedly threaten Trace, and increasing lust for Sawyer make Trace’s life almost impossible. Not that it gets any better when he figures out who was behind it all... and wasn’t that a total surprise to me!

If you like sexy cowboys who enjoy rescuing helpless city boys, if a mysterious saboteur is your thing and you think you can figure out who it is from the clues cleverly hidden in the unfolding tale, and if you’re looking for a read that is as funny and hot as it is suspenseful, then you will probably like this novel.
