Book Blurb

At eighteen, Rhys Kent ran away from the circus and joined the Army. The night before his bus left for basic training, he met the man of his dreams, fell in love, and had sex for the first time. But by the next morning, he had also been dumped by Joe Beck.

Ten years later, their paths collide at Rescue for Hire West, and Rhys wants nothing to do with the man who broke his young, tender, heart. But in life, it’s the little gestures of love that matter most to Rhys, and it turns out Joe excels at the little things.

At nineteen, Joe Beck had the right intentions, but handled the whole Rhys situation all wrong. Ten years later, life has given him a second chance at love, but will Rhys? The road to happily ever after is paved with candy kisses, jelly beans, milk duds, old dogs, old people, heartache, forgiveness, and this little red sex toy…

Book Review

There is one thing I hate about starting a series that's basically in its infancy. I read so fast and inhale the stories that then I'm stuck waiting until the next book releases. That's how I felt about this sixth book in Bellann Summer's 'Rescue for Hire West' series. I adored each of the previous five installments and I had to wait for this one to release, leaving me on pins and needles about where the author would go with Rhys and Joe, particularly since I got a glimpse (more like a tease to be honest) of them at the end of Carson and Isaiah's story.

Rhys took a big gamble when he escaped his life and his whole family in the circus, and joined the Army. The only good thing that happened was meeting Joe and having him help Rhys escape before Rhys's cousins tried to prevent him from leaving. Well that wasn't the only good thing. The very best thing was sharing Joe's hotel room that night and having sex for the first time, and falling in love with Joe. Rhys didn't understand why Joe left before he woke up but Joe hadn't had the heart to tell Rhys that he was heading to join the Navy and they'd never see each other again. Even though Joe spent the next ten years thinking about Rhys.

Roman has just hired Joe to take care of the barn and the horses at the compound that serves as home for Rescue for Hire West. Styx recommended Joe as they were on the same SEAL team, but Joe was injured on a mission and now spends his days working with horses, his second love. Rhys and Joe are both surprised to see each other after all these years, although Joe is happy and Rhys is furious. No man Rhys has been with in the past years has ever measured up to Joe and it has made Rhys angry more than once. To see him here, at the compound, at Rhys's home, is almost more than he can handle.

I absolutely relished watching Joe woo Rhys. He did all the little things that Rhys loves and it was no surprise when Joe won Rhys over. This was a fabulous addition to a series that I already love, plus I got a hint at the next book. But, darn it, Bellann, did you have to? You made me cry!
