FBI profiler Kennedy Scott battles ghosts from her past, deadly obsession, and the evil that haunts her. The Seeker.
Famed Hollywood actress Veronica Ryan arrives at a red carpet event with her wife Shawn. They are the world's most famous gay couple—beautiful, wealthy, and by all appearances, the happiest couple in the world. But things aren't always as they appear. And someone is out to dampen the parade. A shot rings out and Veronica finds herself tackled to the ground by security, her wife lying next to her in a pool of blood.
Kennedy Scott used to be the best behavioral profiler the FBI had, but she is haunted by a string of child murders no one can solve. A single quote—Seek and ye shall find—was all she had to go on. The case has eaten her alive, and after her own family is threatened by an armed intruder, Kennedy retreats to be with them. But one phone call brings her back into the game. Veronica Ryan needs her help and the path may lead to the one who haunts her.
Three scary and curious situations with one from a past event have plummeted two families into devastating and frightening scenarios. The fear that gets generated is so intense it pushes the two most current targets nearly to their wits' end. This is really powerful stuff and I was totally drawn in, riveted, and feeling my own nerves being frayed right along with the primary targets. Plus, we have one super ex-FBI profiler on the case, plus a host of other FBI and security folks trying to protect the threatened families from a single-minded stalker who will probably not stop until dead or victorious. Phew! Oh yes, this is my kind of story and this book delivered big time!
Kennedy Scott is a trained FBI behavioral profiler who now works on her own but gets called in by the FBI to assist on certain cases. In this situation, she was specifically requested and has her vacation rudely interrupted. Following and haunting her wherever she goes are devastating nightmares about a case that was never closed. Thirteen children kidnapped. Twelve youngsters found brutally murdered after being horribly abused. Kennedy is the best at what she does, but she pays a heavy price when she cannot succeed. I just adored Kennedy as I felt every pain and frustration presented!
Shawn Ryan was shot during a very public event she attended with her wife, Veronica Ryan, a very successful actress with scores of loving fans. They are America’s most prominent lesbian couple. One of those fans morphs into an extremely dangerous stalker. The stalker appears to want Veronica’s total attention and is willing to eliminate her wife and anyone else who might stand in the way. That sent shivers down my spine!
Kennedy is somewhat knocked off her pins as she finds herself very attracted to Shawn. This delicious subplot manages to pop up every now and then while the whole stalker operation hits one aggravation after another. Some astounding and extraordinary connections really added some spice and had me smiling from ear to ear. The hot and sexy action artfully threaded throughout the tense twists and turns had me panting. Smiling and panting are perfect, who can ask for anything more. Thank you, Ronica Black and BSB. This novel gets thumbs up from me, especially for Kennedy!
