Book Blurb

Griffen Rogers has a fulfilling career he loves, and a partnership with a man who makes him happy. Still, despite a life most people only dream of, Griffen is convinced that monogamy is for fools. And it’s forced his lover of three years, Leandro, to question their commitment.

A sexy new boss, Ryker Sloan, arrives on the job and things get a little more complicated for Griffen. Will Griffen’s attraction to the new boss lead him down a road of temptation and regret, or will it reinforce his bond with Leandro—the man he may just want to spend the rest of his life with?

Book Review

This story may be straightforward in terms of plot, but the main character (and narrator of the story) is extremely confused about his relationship with his lover of three years versus the attraction he feels toward his new boss. He has no idea what the priorities are in his life. That makes it somewhat annoying - I wanted to kick Griffen several times throughout, in the hopes of getting him to open his eyes. It also adds some spice to the proceedings, well, that and the fact that some of the bedplay is very hot!

Griffen has a good job he likes, and though his partner makes him happy in his personal life, he doesn’t believe in settling down. He keeps telling himself they are not exclusive (which is what he wants to believe), even as the beginnings of guilt about what he's doing with his new boss are making him uncomfortable. I think he has a severe case of "the grass must be greener on the other side", or he is just plain stupid not to see what he has in Leandro! Be ready to be infuriated about certain scenes.

Leandro, for me, is the quiet and unsung hero of this tale. It was clear to me, if not to Griffen, that he wants way more from Griffen than he is getting. He is clearly in love, and probably puts up with Griffen's lack of commitment because he figures that is all he can get. But even he has his limits, and I loved the way he handled the inevitable confrontation.

If you like stories with lots of heat, if you don’t mind "open relationships" and reading about the guys involved and their feelings, and if you're looking for a fast, mostly entertaining read, then you will probably like this short story.
