Book Blurb

The first full moon is always the hardest.

Danny McMann has been busy on pack business for weeks and just wants to spend the upcoming full moon deep in the woods with his pack—running, hunting, napping and generally goofing off. The last thing he wants to hear is that they’ve got another man on their hands who’s been bitten and about to turn with the arrival of the full moon.

Hammond Argyle was bitten by his assailant in a bar fight a few weeks ago. He’s been in a foul mood ever since and it’s only getting worse. As is the way his skin itches and feels like it doesn’t fit him anymore. When someone starts lurking round, following him, it’s about all he can take.

Will Danny be able to help Hammond through his first change and beyond?

Book Review

There are two ways this story about a recently turned-into-a-werewolf human could have gone based on the blurb: serious and dark, or light and playful. Thanks to Danny, a werewolf counselor, ‘The Moon’ turned out to be very entertaining with lots of humor as Danny guides Hammond through his first shift and teaches him about life as a werewolf. Definitely recommended if you’re looking for the fun side of being bitten by a stranger - only to find yourself facing an entirely unexpected new version of reality.

Danny has a job within the pack that has him travel all over the place. A large part of his job is like any enforcer’s: get hold of any disobedient or troublesome werewolves and deal with them. But there is a big part of his job that I don’t think I’ve ever read about before – he is also a counselor. Yes, you read that right. He helps freshly bitten humans adjust to their new life. Sometimes it is easier than others, but what he finds when he is sent to help Hammond is not something he ever expected.

Hammond has not felt right since a stranger bit him during a bar fight. While the wound has healed, his skin itches and three weeks later, he is about ready to lose it. So when he finds out that someone is following him, he is willing to take the guy’s head off. But what happens when Danny reveals himself takes both of them by surprise. And that is when the fun starts.

If you like your werewolf stories with a big helping of humor, fun, and playful exploration, if you think a freshly bitten human and a werewolf counselor might make a great couple, and if you’re looking for a light read that is scorching, then you will probably like this novella.
