When former classmate Alexi Manetas wanders into his book store, Simon Harris seizes the opportunity to rekindle a flame he'd carelessly extinguished years earlier.
Simon Harris has proclaimed his bisexuality loudly since college, despite never having dated a man. While his family and friends laugh, he knows the truth: there is one man he's always been attracted to. Once, fear kept him from acknowledging that attraction. No more. The next time he finds himself wanting to kiss a guy, he's going for it.
Alexi Manetas has never gotten over his schoolboy crush on Simon. When Simon graduated, Alexi moved on. He may not have pined for Simon, but he never forgot, and always, lurking at the back of his mind, buried deep in his heart there's been Simon and the hope that they would meet again.
A little help from an old lover and a busybody sister-in-law brings Alexi and Simon together, but Simon's fears might still tear them apart…
NOTE: This book was previously published by Breathless Press in June 2012.
It never ceases to amaze me that a lot of people actually liked high school, go to the reunions, and still have friends from those days. I hated high school. It was a horrible experience, I've never attended or wanted to attend a reunion and I couldn't recognize 99.9 percent of my graduating class if I fell over them. The fact that Simon has thought of Alexi all these years, and, in fact, has been waiting to have a relationship with a man until it could be Alexi, just blows my mind. I enjoy Lee Brazil's books because they are always sweet and entertaining with a good love story and interesting characters. 'The Man Trap' was just such a book.
Simon owns a used bookstore that specializes in antiquities and several weekends in a row he's seen Alexi come in. They haven't spoken, but Simon is determined to change that and see if the attraction they shared in high school, which Simon didn't act on for fear of being gay, is still there. Alexi and Simon agree to date for six months to see how it's going before involving any of the other people in their lives, i.e. family, etc. It seemed like a good idea to me as Simon has never dated anyone longer than six months so that should be the tell.
Simon and Alexi are adorable. Simon kind of annoyed me a few times as he definitely had some growing up to do. They both got their happy ever after, though, and I enjoyed watching them struggle for it. The author managed to completely surprise me because there was a lot to this story that isn't even hinted at in the description. And, thus, I can't mention it because I don't want to spoil anyone else's surprise. Just trust me when I say it added a little bit more to the whole story. Thank you, Lee, for a good book!
