If a sexy, straight lifeguard and a closeted, virginal geek can get past their fears they might have a shot to turn their unlikely friendship into a scorching-hot chance at true love. The Lifeguard and the Geek by Jamie Urban proves that sometimes best friends make the best lovers!

A virgin and in the closet, graphic novelist Griffin Parks visits California for work and instead finds himself face-to-face with sexy ex-pro surfer Drew Lynch. A card-carrying geek, Griffin knows he has zero chance with the straight and handsome Drew.

Lifeguard Drew Lynch is between girlfriends and oddly enchanted by sweet, awkward Griffin. Secretly bi-curious, but never enough to act on his same sex interests, Drew seeks Griffin out, drawn to the guy in a way he’s never been to anyone before.

The more time Griffin spends with Drew, the more he likes the man behind the outgoing lifeguard persona. And with each day Drew shares with Griffin, his sexual curiosity about men, and Griffin in particular, ignites a little more.

Both men notice each other and like what they see, but each is skittish about rocking the boat. Can this lifeguard and geek let go of their fears enough to reveal their deepest secrets and desires? Do Griffin and Drew dare risk their friendship for a shot at true love?

Book Review

'The Lifeguard and the Geek' is the first book I've read by author Jamie Urban. In fact, this is the first book by this author. Having not experienced this writer before, I thought the description was appropriately sweet and the story would hold my interest. Yes, friends, I have been known to enjoy sweet. I don't always need drama. But, when I do, I am a huge fan of Jamie's alter ego, who writes books with more pain and drama. So, I was excited to see what I'd get from this "version".

I'll be honest and admit that I really fell for the geeky guys my whole life. Don't get me wrong, I love a bad boy, but there's something about smart that is really sexy. Griffin is the adorable Midwest boy, who writes graphic novels for a living. Drew is the super hot California boy, ex-professional surfer, turned lifeguard. In the six months since Griffin moved to Oceanside, he and Drew have become friends, with Griffin hiding his crush, and Drew his bi-curiosity. Now that Griffin's roommate has thrown him out in favor of his own girlfriend, Drew, and his friends, have offered Griffin a place to live. Ah, temptation.

Griffin and Drew have this really wonderful friendship, and I loved the fact that everything didn't just happen suddenly. I mean, they're really good friends for over a year before they take the step into anything else. Granted, Griffin is in the closet and hides his huge crush on Drew. And Drew has no idea whether Griffin is even gay, or is remotely interested in him. Not to mention that Drew is very worried about ruining their friendship by attempting anything, without being sure of Griffin's desires. It really was as sweet as it sounds, but it also showed remarkable respect for each other. Although, when they did finally get to the sex…yowza, it was pretty hot.

Absolutely adored this book! Thank you, Jamie, for giving me another author to treasure. I am looking forward to your next release, but, until then, I can highly recommend this one.
