Book Blurb

In the conclusion to the Dragon Hearts Series, Adam and Novik are having trouble finding some alone time together after the birth of their son, and another recent attack by the humans, and the dragons within their own nest, haven't been making things easier for them. Adam misses the intimacy he used to share with his mate, but rarely sees him because of Novik's duties as the leader of the dragon warriors. Adam is determined to get the time they need to reconnect.

Novik has no problem with this, but it seems his duties to protect the nest have him returning home too exhausted to do more than fall into bed, let alone see his mate and child. He's determined to make this work one way or another. However, a familiar enemy will make one last attack on the nest, going after every human to have ever vexed him, and it might put Adam and Novik's plans on hold indefinitely.

Book Review

This is truly a grand finale of the second great dragon series (that I have read) by Marcy Jacks about the dragons who came out of hiding, got in a war that almost destroyed the planet, and are now beginning to live in peace with humans and werewolves. ‘Of Dragons and Wolves’ is the other series, but different from  dragons and werewolves figuring out ho to coexist, in that, ‘Dragon Hearts’ is all about a different kind of situation. Here, humans and dragons are the main players with werewolves only mentioned occasionally. More than that, these humans have reverted to the Dark Ages, as far as I can see, and live under the cruel rule of David, who uses dragons to get rid of the people he doesn’t like by “sacrificing” them to the beasts. The dragons are more civilized than the humans in this village though, and let the innocent live with them. This series has been about some of them taking human mates, the resulting problems, and the need to vanquish David and his old-fashioned, cruel ideas once and for all.

Adam and Novik, as well as their baby son, are one focus of this story. Jason, Adam’s best friend, and Jason’s sister Athy also play a role. David is determined to return Athy to his side despite the fact she was forced to live with him and has no intention of returning, and he doesn’t care who gets hurt in the process. It all comes to a head when David breaks into the dragons’ nest and ends up taking not just Athy, but Adam and his baby son as well. The dragon warriors have their hands full saving their lives and setting things to rights.

If you liked the other books in this series and want to find out how it all ends, if you want to see how Adam and Novik cope not just with their baby but also with their lives being threatened, and if you’re looking for a read that is as action-filled and suspenseful as it is heartwarming and hot, then you will probably like this novella. I loved the whole series, and look forward to the next one Marcy Jacks comes up with!
