Italy’s Amalfi Coast, overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, is the dream location for the perfect wedding, and billionaire Calvin Croft is determined to pull out all the stops to make his marriage to Matt Darcy a day that nobody will forget.
But before Matt and Cal can walk down the aisle and say ‘I do’, someone uninvited turns up out of the blue… and turns Cal’s life completely upside-down.
Will Matt ever get to marry the man of his dreams? Will Cal be able to come to terms with his past and get on with his future? Or will an unwelcome guest put their romance on the rocks forever?
You’re invited to the wedding of the year as Matt, Cal, Mrs. Mulroney, Mr. Banks, Tilly and Angus return for more hilarious antics, swooning romance and a surprise that none of them will see coming!
Weddings can be real trials of everyone’s patience, and as this story shows, that is true even for insanely rich billionaires. I loved Matt, a romance writer with some truly inspiring friends, and Cal, his charming fiancé billionaire, in the first book, and I came to adore them even more in this sequel. The story of their “perfect” Italian wedding is funny, filled with surprises, wonderfully touching, and suspenseful almost to the last moment.
Matt, who tells this story, and Cal are determined to have the perfect wedding and all the puzzle pieces are right there: from an amazing setting in Italy, to the flowers and wedding banquet and a dreamy hotel. The tale of Matt’s flight to Italy at the beginning of the book had me in stitches. He is accompanied by teenager Tilly, who is more intelligent than you’d believe, the ever-tipsy Mrs. Mulroney, who is sharp as a tick despite consuming alcohol almost constantly, and the enigmatic Mr. Banks, who makes pronouncements about his adventures that are clearly impossible, yet super amusing.
“I wouldn’t question Tilly,” Mrs. Mulroney warned. “She’s so smart she knows more than the President of the United States.”
Mr. Banks piped up curiously at that moment. “Say, who is the President these days?”
“Don’t ask!” came the chorus from Tilly, Angus, Mrs. Mulroney, Cal and I.
I could quote more, but then I’d have to copy almost the entire book… so you should go see for yourself! Not just because of the humor though – Matt and Cal are sorely tested before they make it to the part where “I do” becomes relevant. The person who almost destroys everything is truly awful – and while the dark plans were pretty obvious to me (and Mrs. Mulroney) from the start, everyone else was almost completely bamboozled. Especially Angus, Cal’s older brother who is just adorable and so innocent that he sees only the best in people – even the evil ones! It’s a good thing everyone looks out for Cal and his brother!
If you like Matt and Cal and want to know what they’re up to, if dreamlike, perfect romances are your thing, and if you’re looking for the continuation of the modern-day fairy tale that started in ‘The Billionaire’s Boyfriend’, then you will probably like this novella as much as I do. It’s hilarious, emotional, and goes straight to my reread file!
