Lane Daniels loves his job, working as a foreman on the south Texas ranch gives him the type of satisfaction he’s always craved, but the owner of Crazy Hills ranch, Gresh Hamilton Miller the third, has woven his way under Lane’s skin, leaving Lane crazy for the man’s touch. But doing the boss is out of the question.

Gresh wants more from Lane than his ability to handle livestock, he wants it all. Lane won’t give him the time of day so he forces the issue, setting up a date that Lane believes to be a business meeting. Alone together, Lane and Gresh ignite in a flash of passion.

Just when it feels like there could be something more between Lane and Gresh, the new doctor in town, Riley, sets his sights on Lane. Riley chases hard after him, insinuating himself in Lane’s life, highlighting Gresh’s faults. But Gresh won’t give up without a fight. Will Lane and Gresh be able to survive the intrusion, or will Riley be the one walking away with Lane's heart?

Texas Rough is the first book in Sara York’s Texas series. Texas Hard and Texas Twist are next in line. Get ready to get your cowboy on and go for a rough ride.

Book Review

Who can resist a hot cowboy – or two? I must admit that I have a hard time saying no and Texas Rough, the first in a trilogy of stories, didn’t disappoint. Using the inherent conflict between a foreman and the rich, obnoxious ranch owner's son to best advantage, this story revolves around finding love and holding on to it, even when the odds are against you. Not just the odds, actually, several people in both the main characters' lives have an issue with them being together and continually interfere.

Lane has worked hard to get where he is, and loves his work as a foreman. If only there wasn't the need for the ranch owner to come up with new ideas to make money, ideas that 'interfere' with Lane's ideas of what a foreman's job should be about. To top it all off, it means he suddenly has to work with the unattainable object of his attraction, the ranch owner's son. But even when Gresh turns out to be anything but unattainable, Lane's troubles aren't over…

Gresh comes off as a bit of an ass at first, but as soon as we hear his side of the story that changes. A little. He still makes some major mistakes that didn’t exactly endear him to me. His lack of a spine where his father is concerned was just one of them, his unbelievable naïveté regarding his so-called girlfriend was another. Yes, he comes through in the end, but it was a close call!

The interactions between Lane and Gresh are very hot, the enemies they face on all sides are infuriatingly intrusive, and the path to learning to fight for each other is a long and hard one. If you like drama, enjoy two hot men deciding whether to make love or fight, and if you like stories set in Texas, you will probably like this book as much as I did.
