Book Review

This is the second book in a series focusing on two really fascinating women. I certainly suggest you read book one first to become intimately acquainted with the early encounters between Carter and Penny. That will provide an excellent stepping stone for this most fascinating love affair. In this second book, which intriguingly yet only occasionally skips back and forth between Penny and then Carter's viewpoint exclusively, definitely presents some additional and solid insights into each woman. Plus, tantalizing perceptions into Carter's family, business, and her consuming love for Penny are wondrously sprinkled throughout the book. Additionally, more understanding of Penny from the inside out provided a solid balance as this stimulating and captivating story unraveled before my eyes. Mesmerizing!

Carter Forbes is a provocative, intelligent, driven, and extremely successful businesswoman. I feel a magnetic pull to this person yet a protective sense since I intuit that she may have given up a good deal to reach her status, to sustain her position, and maintain a most captivating undercover operation to aid and assist others in need of a champion. It is delightful to learn why she chose to use Carter as a name and not the more feminine Amelia that her mother preferred she highlight. Such tidbits end up expressing volumes and are the magnificent treasures that I adore within this evolving series of books. Carter totally fascinates me. To have risen to such heights puts her in a particularly rarified atmosphere, one that I wish more women could reach and manage. She is not perfect, but I believe that makes Carter even more admirable. Astounding!

Penny Elliot is a constant surprise as her wisdom, strength, and insight continually seems to unravel before me. I love Penny and I am most definitely in her peanut gallery applauding and being cajoled through every escapade. I believe she isn't surprised to be continually attracted to Carter even after she knows some of the mysteries behind the *curtain*. Penny continues to be more than intrigued by who this Carter person is plus how much she has achieved and controls throughout the world. As Penny elicits more of Carter's secrets and steadfastly insists her knowing will be quite beneficial to both of them, I feel she ensnares Carter's heart in ways neither of them could have envisioned. What an unforeseen love story with so many facets and unexpected twists and turns. Penny helps me to also love Carter, which kind of blew me away. Penny is almost indescribable as she captures Carter's and my heart. Extraordinary!

Ah! Now I have my permission to read book three. These first two volumes have so artfully grabbed my interest and my heart. Yet it is always a gamble for a continuing series to keep its readers at a peak interest level. I am betting on book three to make the grade. Well, I am a gambler at heart as well as an optimist. I salute the author for her accomplishments including keeping me on the edge of my seat! Optimistically upbeat!
