Her team confronts Carter with disturbing information. Is Penny stealing from her, betraying her by working with Carter’s enemies? Nick seems to think so, but Carter doesn’t want to believe her wife could turn against her. She makes inquiries of her own, but what if Penny finds out the woman she loves questioned her integrity? They will have to rebuild the trust between them which takes more than the undeniable heat between them—but once you surrender, it’s forever. Their love will lead them.
This is the third book in a series sharing the magnificent story of a most intriguing and intricately constructed relationship between two possibly idiosyncratic women. Whether they are or not, they are assuredly passionate about each other. In essence, this series has woven a fantastically complex, multidimensional love affair between two individuals from rather different backgrounds. Unlike anything covered in the first two books (which I recommend be read prior to this third book), a situation erupts that in a very short period of time places both women in an emotionally tumultuous upheaval with implications and repercussions leading to far ranging consequences. This shift in storyline explodes on the scene disturbing everyone's equilibrium. Sublimely disconcerting!
Carter Forbes is more or less a complicated individual. Her style of management, those inside clues as to how intensely she responds to Penelope, and her high-octane confrontation with several trusted long-term employees make this third book an explosive eye-opener. The penetrating look into what makes Carter tick and how she feels about her staff is more than a tad mind-boggling. These eye-openers add some startling insights in to Carter's makeup, focus, and the personal ranking of what is really important to her. The mystery about where Carter comes from is partially unraveled. Carter is a decidedly monumental success story, yet she has a huge heart that could put her at risk. I wonder if Carter truly realizes how much Penelope complements, promotes, and enhances all her strengths while she captures her heart. Impressive!
Penelope Elliot, called Penny by almost everyone, is an astonishingly astute woman. Additionally, it is important to Penny that all who know her realize she intentionally and lovingly chose to be with Carter as her wife and then some. Penny is particularly concerned that her family is clear and comfortable with her remarkably altered mode of living and position. After Penny experiences a critical undermining of her faith, a particular part of her core and soul needs succoring. Penny needs an expanded perspective plus a solid foundation upon which to forgive and understand. For me, Penny is a winner from the git-go, I just love her, and I continue to be in her peanut gallery at all times. Moreover, her willingness to pretty much present her heart and essence on a platter to her mate makes her one of the most astoundingly ethereal women I have ever encountered. She simply takes my heart away and I profoundly desire that she stays unharmed and as preciously innocent as is realistic. Breathtakingly delightful!
The three books currently making up this series most assuredly should be read in order so the wondrous buildup is not missed. Carter and Penny will remain in a treasured place in my heart and memory. Captivating!
