Getting Spencer into bed isn't difficult, but Emilio soon learns that earning the trust of a man deeply hurt will take time and patience. With a prize like brilliant, sweet Spencer on the line, Emilio decides he is strong enough to face the challenge.

Spencer is surprised when he's approached by the gorgeous construction worker he's admired from the safety of his office window. Acting spontaneously for the first time in his thirty-eight years, Spencer takes Emilio home. When the casual hookup turns into the potential for love, Spencer realizes that if he wants to build a life with Emilio, he'll need to be strong enough to slay his personal demons and learn to trust again.

Book Review

The visual in my head when I started reading this story was the Diet Coke commercial from the 90s where all the ladies gather at the office windows to watch the construction workers take their morning break. I loved that commercial. I mean, what could be better than watching hunky construction men, sweat dripping off them, jeans low around their hips, taking off their shirts…oh my. Okay. So, apparently, construction men are a hot button for me. And, for Spencer, too, I see.

Spencer is thirty-eight, a math professor and his last relationship ended when his ex informed him that he'd been cheating on Spencer for the entire time and that, somehow, it was Spencer's fault. Huh. Serious jab to the ego. Spencer is shy, had never been much into the bar scene, and figures he has a pretty low sex drive. It comes as a bit of a shock when he can't keep his eyes off of one of the construction workers. And when the guy introduces himself and asks him out, Spencer is completely flummoxed.

Emilio is twenty-two, total sex on a stick, youngest child of a construction company family, licensed electrician, and extremely intrigued by the hot professor he keeps seeing. In fact, Emilio was only supposed to stop by the site and check on some electrical issues, but once he saw Spencer he figured it wouldn't hurt to put in some time at this site. Emilio knows what he wants and when he sees it, whether business or personal, he goes after it. And he definitely wants Spencer.

OMG, I completely fell for Spencer. He's so sweet, a little vulnerable, shy, and totally has no idea of his own worth. He actually believed his ex and thinks he's dull, unattractive, and not good in bed. And, who couldn't absolutely adore Emilio? A hunky stud who is gentle and is looking for the long-term guy to share his life with. Emilio wants what his parents, his brothers and his sister have all found, the love of his life and he's fairly certain that person is Spencer.

Now, from reading the description a reader might assume they know how the whole story will play out. And, in some ways, they would be right. But, the author does an incredible job of throwing a few curve balls in and shaking things up. Watching Spencer and Emilio get to their happy ever after was really lovely. It was everything I had hoped for in this love story and I wasn't disappointed at all.
