Love comes wrapped in leathery wings…

With renovations of his old Gothic church almost complete, Justin prepares for the grand opening of his gallery. Justin feels safer than he has in a long time, but it’s shattered when he’s attacked and beaten in his own home. David finds Justin and leaves him unwanted gifts, tormenting him, Justin’s no longer safe, day or night. His dreams of warm strong arms and dark wings are his only comfort, offering him an illogical security through the night.

Gargoyle Cullen sits his post as he has for centuries, guarding the souls of those who enter the church. Awake for the first time in this age of technology, he notices the new owner with curiosity and a possessiveness he’s never known before.

Will Justin finally find peace, wrapped in dark wings and the beating of a Stone Heart?

Book Review

I really liked this story about Justin, a guy who is on the run from a delusional stalker, and starts a gallery in and old church. When he finds out that the gargoyles there actually come alive after sunset, he is very happy. One in particular turns out to be a good friend, and in a classical tale about good guys versus bad, the adventure takes off at a run.

Justin is an artist, and one who is open to the mystical around him. He is particularly drawn to the gargoyles on the old church, going so far as to name them. But his past (and the man who thinks he owns Justin) catches up with him and even though he stands up to the evil guy, he is physically not strong enough.

Cullen, asleep for centuries, is awakened by Justin and, sensing there is more between them than just friendship, takes over as a self-appointed bodyguard. He has lots to learn about the modern world he has awoken in, but he knows about love and loyalty. Nothing will stop him from protecting Justin, and I loved Cullen’s determination to do the right thing.

If you’re looking for something paranormal that is slightly off the beaten path, if you believe that love and loyalty can move mountains or, in this case, bring stone to life, and if you like reading stories about men who stand up for themselves as much as they defend others, you will probably like this book.
