Book Review

The theme of this story, racing expensive cars in snow and ice, had me excited about this book before I even started to read it. I love fast cars, and I will admit to occasionally driving just a little faster than the speed limit, so the idea of doing all of that in the company of professional drivers had me jumping at the bit, just like Pippo, one of the two main characters of 'Snow Drive'.  As soon as I got into the book and found out more about Pippo and all his woes, I was hooked even more.

Pippo is a script supervisor whose job it is to make sure a movie is consistent. He focuses on reality and boring details. No wonder that his dreams are a little extravagant, and when he needs a break, nothing sounds better than a snow drive. I loved how he dives into the world of luxury living, all the while quietly adding everything to his credit card and wondering how to pay for the fun. He isn’t prepared to stop enjoying himself, though, and when he meets Kethin and the man is interested in him, Pippo's fantasy trip becomes the adventure of a lifetime on more than one level.

Kethin is a great guy who isn’t scared of going after what he wants. He is a professional race driver, and definitely lives his life exactly the way he behaves on the track. Once the goal is clear, he goes after it with everything in him. In this case, it is Pippo who has attracted his attention and Kethin makes sure they both have a good time. Switzerland in the winter is the perfect backdrop to some very romantic seduction scenes.

This is a book with a very straightforward storyline, and tons of charm in all the little details that make life so exciting. A trip to a faraway country - check. An upgrade to first class on the flight – check. A stay in a luxury hotel – check. An activity you'd never normally dream of participating in – check. A dream man who turns out to be very real – double check. If you like stories about fun places and interesting activities, if you enjoy reading stories with lots of charm and unexpected situations, and if you're looking for a read that is as sweet as it is exciting, then you will probably like this novella.
