Book Review

It's sad to think that this is the final book in Bellann Summer's 'Rescue for Hire' series. She branched off and created a 'Rescue for Hire West' that is located in Nevada and of course I'm jazzed about that, but I'll miss these original members of the team. I've had such fun getting to know them all… Cade, Bret, Jack, Pip, Treble, Damian, Tony, Shane, Alex, Leo, Gabriel, Pete, Rock, Brad, Boone, Flynn, Ruger, and Spencer. Now I'm going to get to experience the final couple in this chapter, Shadow and Pen.

Shadow was a member of Ruger's former military ops team, and he is his name. Essentially. He's a ghost. You don't see him and then you're dead. He has mad skills locked behind a wall of stone. Pen is a reporter who recently moved to Granite City in hopes of tracking down the crazed serial killer who murdered his brother. Now I'm not going to get detailed with this kidnapper case although Cade and his team are very actively involved. I would be spoiling this for everyone if I did. Cade knows full well who Pen is and why he's in Granite City. Unfortunately there's information that Cade can't give to Pen to explain why he needs a bodyguard after what Pen assumes is an attempted mugging.

Imagine Pen's surprise when the bodyguard shows up and it's Shadow, the guy who spent long hours the night before having sex with Pen but was gone this morning when Pen woke up. Shadow is equally surprised because Cade didn't tell him the nickname of the guy he is guarding. Oh Cade. I think you might be turning into a little matchmaker. Cade and the sheriff have their fingers in a few pies and are juggling a handful of issues to try to get to the bottom of this case and ferret out the leak. I just worry about what's going to happen when Pen finds out the truth. He has a wicked temper and a lot of snark.

Loved this final book. It was everything I hoped it would be. Shadow and Pen are perfect, and I got to see more of the rest of the guys and their partners. I will miss this team but maybe one or two of them will show up now and again in the spin-off. Oh and Bellann, thank you for the nice segue into Rescue for Hire West. *grins*
