After a life of wrong turns and lost hope, can true love be more than a bittersweet fantasy?
Melinda Andrews arrives on the Oregon coast with a dream of running the Sea Glass Inn. Still reeling after an unexpected divorce, Mel believes she has missed her chance to find love. All she wants is to make her business a success and regain her independence. She locates the artist who inspired her move so she can commission more paintings for her new inn.
Pamela Whitford runs a gallery in a small seaside town, planning events and supporting other artists while neglecting her own talent. Since being deserted by the love she thought was forever, she refuses to let anyone close enough to hurt her again. But Pam can’t resist the struggling new innkeeper, and she agrees to paint for her even though it means opening herself up to creativity and the vulnerability that goes with it.
Can they learn to trust again and discover a second chance at love?
‘Sea Glass Inn’ rather completely stole my heart. In part because of the two women who each battled courageously to pull themselves up and out of their personal quagmires and into the dazzling world of loving and living. Plus this magnificent story unfolds on the Oregon coast where one woman is reborn bringing her dream into actuality and additionally she provides a tender, compassionate, recuperative haven for another woman amidst a breathtakingly vibrant setting where an Inn is being renovated and rejuvenated. I got to be practically inside each of these women’s heads as they valiantly struggled to become totally animated once again. Captivatingly enjoyable!
Melinda Andrews, Mel, in the wake of her recent divorce escapes to the one location where she felt alive and happy. She is mesmerized and revivified at the same moment she encounters a painting at the Seascape Art Gallery in the small town near the Oregon coast she remembers from her youth. There she falls under the spell of a tour de force hanging on display that seems to perfectly connect her to those wonderful memories. She purchases it and that act precipitates an avalanche of change, struggle, renewal, and despair, as Mel boldly works toward ultimate revitalization. Secretly and concurrently, she falls in love with her image of the artist Pamela Whitford, making both the artwork and the creator the incentive for her impetuous deeds. Mel had been traditionally married and has a son. The boy is a positive jewel and appears on the scene most weekends. Her reacquisition of her lesbian soul takes effort while she initially confronts the challenges to bring the Sea Glass Inn, formally known as Lighthouse Inn, back to life. Exquisitely engaging!
Pamela Whitford, Pam, is also the owner of the Seascape Art Gallery within the coastal town of Cannon Beach near the exhilarating pacific coast in Oregon. It was difficult at first to recognize how much pain Pam is living with making her barely a shell of who she was originally. Her story unfolds in bits and pieces from the instant she appears, pretending to just be the proprietor of the art gallery and not also the virtuoso who produced the work that charms Mel. Pam is shackled and still crippled by a breakup that nearly destroyed her. She can barely produce one completed canvas a year and even that would not happen if not prodded by the unbelievably energetic and forceful Tia Bell who is unquestionably the entire energy source for everyone near Cannon Beach. Pam pretty much rewrites her lifestyle in the wake of her breakup. She has her gallery and she chooses to only hook up with women briefly passing through so that she simply is able to satisfy her physical needs. It is at times painful to be in Pam's shoes, but eventually I got a handle on the issues that drive her to such self-destructive actions. Nevertheless, I could not help but adore the core and soul that still moves quietly in the shadows of Pam's pain. Intensely nettlesome!
I categorically recommend this story. It will fervently live in my heart forever. I am hopeful to read the balance of this author's other books while wishing for many more glorious creations. Thrillingly tantalizing!
