Chance Galloway thinks walking into the Xxchange might just be the biggest mistake he’s ever made, but one stranger who seems to know just how to touch Chance is going to make it a night he’ll never forget.

Chance Galloway is used to being alone. Once a wild and voracious player, he became a loner after a traumatic event in his past tore his world apart. Older and wiser, years of loneliness and a moment of weakness drive him to seek another’s touch. The only problem is, the club he chooses to visit is filled with PYT’s—pretty young things Chance simply doesn’t find appealing.

Rory Calhoun has his own baggage that haunts him. Still, he gives in to curiosity and decides to check out the local club. Inside he spots a man who fires up every fantasy Rory’s ever had. The only problem is, despite a quick, enthralling encounter, the stranger makes it clear he isn’t interested in PYT’s, a label Rory knows would be slapped on him in a heartbeat if the stranger ever saw his face.

Rory has one unexpected opportunity to make Chance see him as a man, and he’s going to grab that opportunity, and Chance with both hands.

Book Review

What's the possibility of two men finding each other because they were sexually abused by the same man? One would think that, if anything, being abused would make it difficult for someone to trust another man enough to love again; but for Chance Galloway and Rory Calhoun of 'Rory's Last Chance’ by Bailey Bradford, this possibility became a reality. Brought together by a violent sexual act, they used their experiences to forge an intense, loving relationship and become each other's redemption.

As with many people, Chance Galloway is a contradiction. What he wants and what he needs are two different things. He'd lived for years trying to forget who he had been and what had happened to him as a result of it. He'd closed himself off from the world emotionally, determined not to let anyone or anything get to him ever again. Under that tough facade, he aches to have more but doesn’t know what that more is until he meets Rory Calhoun. Rory knows what he wants in spite of all the pain and rejection he's endured; he wants to love and be loved and to have a place to call home. I admired him for the fact that even though he had been demoralized, he didn't let it keep him down. He was surprisingly resilient and self-assured. He stood up for himself no matter what opposition he faced. Rory's depth of feeling and understanding of people, Chance in particular, took my breath away. Even though Chance seemed like a jerk sometimes, he also wasn't too proud to apologize when he was wrong. Acting like that was the only way he knew of maintaining his emotional distance. Fortunately for both of them, Rory was so overwhelmingly appealing in almost every way that Chance, well, didn't have a chance. There is no way he could resist Rory's charms. Once Chance realizes the importance of their relationship, he works as hard as Rory to foster it.

I feel that the plot could've been a little more integrated and expanded in some places as far as characters and situations went, i.e., the first bar scene and in the case of Art. However, the romance between Chance and Rory more than made up for anything that the plot may have been lacking. Their love for each other was so strong and their desire for each other so intense, that more than once I was expecting them to spontaneously combust. The portrayals of their trysts were so vivid that it made me feel like a voyeur, as if I were right there seeing and feeling everything that they did. It was arousing and sensual, yet exquisitely emotional and loving at the same time. The combined effect was absolutely mind blowing.

'Rory's Last Chance' is a wonderful love story and an excellent example of situational irony. Instead of being destroyed and demoralized by their abuse, Rory and Chance took their pain, sorted it out together, and emerged on the other side better and stronger than either of them could ever have imagined. As usual, love can be found in the oddest places and in the most unusual circumstances, but when it is discovered, there are no limits to what it can accomplish.
