Dominic O'Mara has been caught hunting in another pack's territory, not his own. Since he has no territory and no pack to back him up, he's taken in and tortured for his crimes. He has only one choice to get out of this alive: mate with a young omega luna werewolf and produce pups for the pack who wants the babies for themselves. The omega is pretty, but Dominic refuses him. He would rather die.
Chandler Brodie is heartbroken when the alpha turns him away. His pack always told him no one would ever want him, and it seems they were right. Despite that, Chandler cannot stand by while he is tortured and killed. That night, Chandler rescues Dominic. Chandler is determined to rescue this alpha and nurse him back to health and maybe get the stubborn alpha to realize the reason for their lustful attraction to each other might just be because they are already mated.
The twist at the end of the previous book that links the ‘New Luna Werewolves’ series to the older ‘Luna Werewolves’ series grew from a minor hint to a much more significant part of the plot in this volume. It made clear why Dakota’s pack needs to grow, how it affects (or will affect) the events in the original series, and how individual members of the ‘New Luna Werewolves’ series are linked – by fate – to some of the characters I liked so much before. Absolutely fascinating – and no, I am not going to tell you any details. It’s an ingenious concept and I can’t wait to see how the rest of it is going to play out.
Dominic is an alpha in trouble. He’s been caught in someone else’s territory, and rather than listen to the reasons or maybe negotiate, the members of the resident pack decide to punish Dominic by beating him up, then trying to force him to mate an omega. Dominic refuses to do that, and ends up beaten up even more.
Chandler is an omega, and has been an unwanted not-quite-member of his pack ever since he was a baby. He thinks it’s not so bad, but that’s just because he is used to being mistreated. He has never even considered running away, but something about Dominic makes him want to protect the alpha, and it is enough to jolt Chandler into unomega-like action. He is extremely attracted to Dominic and horribly disappointed when the proud, stubborn man initially rejects him.
Chandler proves that omegas can be just as stubborn as alphas, and the mating heat between them doesn’t wait long to erupt in full force. But the consequences of their actions, Chandler’s old pack, the hunters, and two total strangers sure keep them busy in this action-packed adventure.
If you want to know how Dakota’s pack is doing, if you like some action with your mpreg stories, and if you’re looking for a read that is as fast-moving and surprising as it is hot, then you will probably like this novella.
