Alex and Zeca’s cousin, Marius, comes to Capri in an emergency situation. He thinks he’s come for refuge, but he’s really come to find his life…
British soap star Marius Treadway’s week has gone to hell. Still reeling from a failed romance, he quit his TV show only to learn that his sizable business investments are nothing but scams. Depressed and needing time to rethink his future, he travels to the island of Capri to visit his long-lost Uncle Toppy and twin cousins, Zeca and Alex.
At first, life seems relaxing and enjoyable on the sun-drenched, lemon-scented island, but it soon becomes clear that Alex’s private hotel is being targeted for crime, possibly because it’s gay-owned. Then, one of the oldest gay business owners in Capri Town finds his store trashed.
Determined to help his family, Marius soon meets dazzling Brazilian soccer player Crisanto Alvarez, who makes a play for him. Can it really be that, underneath it all, the Isle of Capri is a healer of hearts?

Ah, it was such a treat to go back to Capri for another installment in the ‘Relentless’ series. After ‘Relentless Passion’ that saw Zeca pair up with hot local cop Antonio, and ‘Relentless Love’ with Zeca’s twin brother Alex finding his future husband in Hugh, it is now Marius’s turn to look for sanctuary and find so much more. As usual in this series, the small Mediterranean island full of charm and overflowing with limoncello is not just the perfect location for finding love, there are also some very mysterious goings-on that keep everyone on their toes. And this time it’s more serious than illegal dog poop (which is a finable offense on Capri) or a broken espresso machine in the café owned by Zeca and Alex’s father, Toppy. There is some real crime happening – and Marius ends up right in the middle of the hunt for the perpetrators.
Marius is an actor and has been in the same soap opera for twelve years. When people recognize him they ask him about his fictional life – which is hilarious because he has just had mutant triplets, and that seems to excite and worry his fans in equal measure. It is, however, also the reason why Marius has had the producers of the show kill him off – he wants a real life now. With his investments down the drain he ends up on Capri hoping that Uncle Toppy will help him out. What he finds is the chaos of Toppy’s café where he is asked to be a waiter, his cousins Zeca and Alex madly in love, and the semi-attentions of a good-looking, mysterious stranger.
What follows is a series of crimes from burglaries to vandalism, all of which are unheard of on Capri. They drive cop Antonio mad and make him ask Marius to help out – at least Marius used to be a bouncer and played an investigator on the soap. I thought it was hilarious how his acting skills came in very handy when dealing with solving the crimes! Meanwhile he and the good-looking stranger, who turns out to be Brazilian soccer player Crisanto, begin a hot and heavy relationship that isn’t without challenges.
This is a great story in perfect ‘Relentless’ tradition. It focuses on the characters, their relationship, and the way Marius gets used to not being a soap opera star any longer. The secondary characters are as crazy and lovable as ever, and the descriptions of the ambiance and the food made me long, yet again, to hop on a flight and visit sun-drenched Capri.
If you’re looking for a read about a man who looks for a new purpose in life and manages to find the lover of his dreams, if you want to know how Capri and the men from previous books in the ‘Relentless’ series are doing, and if you like entertaining stories about hot men in trouble who manage not to take life too seriously, then you will probably like this novella as much as I did.
