Jaguar shifter and sniper extraordinaire, Jag, is tasked with his most difficult and dangerous mission to date—take out the man responsible for his spotter and husband’s violent death. Again.
Sonar, an ocelot shifter, is assigned as the new spotter to the surly and scowling feline alpha. He’s impressed with Jag’s skills but sees more beneath the surface: a grief-stricken and furious man on a trail of vengeance.
Together Sonar and Jag face perils and challenges that test their skills, resolve, and the budding feelings they have for each other. As the death toll rises, so does the heat between them. Their longings could give them the strength needed to persevere, but it also might force them to succumb and sacrifice everything. One thing’s for certain: someone won’t be making it back alive.
‘Relentless’ is the perfect name for this novel. It starts with a bang – a punch to the gut – and doesn’t let up. Think of it as a mystery with deadly consequences for the murderer if he can be found. I could also describe it as an intense action/adventure with more than one twist, military men as its heroes, and a hunt for a killer that results in a breathtaking plot. I was sucked into the action from the very beginning and the fact that the main characters are two cat shifters - a jaguar and an ocelot who work for a private-sector Special Forces unit made up of former military shifter specialists contracted by the military when needed – made everything even more intriguing.
Jag, a jaguar shifter and growly loner who lost his spotter/husband to an enemy called Sandman three years ago in Afghanistan, is more than shocked when it turns out Sandman is still around despite the fact that Jag shot him. He wants immediate action, and he wants to go it alone since he can’t protect anyone who goes with him – just like he was unable to protect his husband three years ago. Letting anyone close again, even just to share a mission, is a nightmare for Jag, but his boss, a burly bear shifter, leaves him no choice. Jag has to take on a new spotter or be replaced on this mission.
Sonar is an ocelot shifter, and has been assigned to Jag as a spotter for the mission of finding and killing Sandman – again. He is not impressed by Jag’s scowls, and he does not back down when Jag tries to intimidate him. Sonar is a professional confronted with the riddle of why Jag is so driven. Between his curiosity for details and an immediate attraction to Jag, a sizzling tension develops between them that is bound to explode at some point. And when it does? Whoa, hold on to your hats!
If you like intense action/adventures with a touch of the paranormal for increased abilities, if you want to find out more about two cat shifters hunting down a seemingly superior serial killer with a cruel bent, and if you’re looking for a read that is suspenseful, intense, and very hot, then you will probably like this novel.
