Coyote shifter Dan has lost his memory during a rough kidnapping. Raven shifter Kalo thinks he's going to lose his mind if his cousin Mik won't leave the low desert and come back home to their tribe like the elders want him to. Dan is a lovely distraction, but even if coyote and raven are best friends in his people's mythology, Kalo's not sure he can trust a man who can't remember anything.
Add in a clutch of dragon eggs, a bunch of stressed out dragon guardians, and some very busy dragons, and Dan and Kalo seem like they're on a path to sheer destruction. Can they come together in time to save a pair of newborn dragons, or will they lose themselves in pride and suspicion?
Author’s Note: While I’d love for every book to stand alone, the dragons books are a series in the truest sense. While I hope any reader could enjoy this book on its own, the dragon series is best enjoyed when read in order. Please see my website for recommendations.
The plot thickens, as they say, and with some as yet unnamed threat approaching, an inexplicable increase in dragon population, and two very stubborn main characters, this fourth volume in the ‘Desert Dragon’ series certainly held me in suspense. With the addition of a coyote and a raven shifter in the previous book, the mystery of what is going on only deepened, and the circle of people directly affected is now larger than ever. This book only gives a partial solution, so there is more to come!
Coyote shifter Dan has been kidnapped, beaten, and lost his memories. He has also brought a large clutch of dragon eggs of unknown origin with him, and they are about to hatch. Dan knows he can be useful, even if he has lost his memories, but raven shifter Kalo doesn’t want to listen. Kalo is all about getting his cousin Mik to return to their tribe with him, but Dan just knows he is the one who should go.
Kalo is going out of his mind. The elders have asked him to bring back the man with the spirit dragon, and Kalo thinks that is Mik. As a raven shifter, Kalo is not exactly super respected, so he is determined to do this one thing right. But Mik refuses, saying his place is with Banger. Meanwhile Dan has fallen for Kalo, but Kalo can’t even focus on him. What a mess!
If you like this series and its colorful twin dragon couples, if you enjoy stories about men who want to do the right thing but have no idea what that might be even though it stares them in the face, and if you’re looking for a read filled with mystery, cute dragon hatchlings, and some hot loving, then you will probably like this short story.
