What if the last thing you felt was the kiss of a knife?

Rasputin’s kiss is lethal. He’s a ghost—killing and disappearing into the night. With few leads and four bodies on his conscience, Detective Inspector Alex Courtney and his team are running on empty and it’s only a matter of time before Rasputin strikes again.

When Alex recruits a young detective to play the part of his boyfriend and provide a tempting target for a killer, he knows he is taking a huge risk. He doesn’t expect Conor Trethuan to be a perfect potential submissive. When their mutual attraction becomes more, Alex has to face the conflict between his possessive instincts and the need to push his young lover into danger.

Investigating their feelings has to come second to investigating the case. There’s no time to decide if what they feel for each other is real. With Rasputin closing in, they may not live to find out.

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of mild BDSM.

Publisher's Note: This book is best read in sequence as part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

Book Review

"Alex steeled himself. “I never thought I’d hear myself saying this to you lot”—he cast an eye over the four men that made up his team—“but I want you to find me a boyfriend.”

I honestly couldn't imagine anything better than a murder mystery, BDSM, two hot cops, and a sexy love story. Add in the fact that the author is LM Somerton, whom I adore, and I couldn't wait to get my greedy little hands on this first book in her new series. 'Rasputin's Kiss' introduced me to Detective Inspector Alex Courtney, a twenty-nine-year-old Dominant, and Detective Conor Trethuan, a twenty-three-year-old submissive. Alex is exactly the kind of man I would fall for. He's gorgeous, strong, smart, sexy, and a little wicked. Oh yes, my friends, he's prime, grade A beef. Conor is stunningly gorgeous, shy, determined, and a very natural, born sub.

Because they don’t have a lot of time to set up an intricate undercover history, Alex moves Conor into his house immediately, and they make themselves known as a couple. Their first night at The Black Orchid, a gay bar which is one of the only things in common amongst the murdered young men, their act is so well received that an unidentified van follows them. It soon becomes apparent, to both Alex and Conor, that their relationship is no longer an “act”, as they’re both beginning to have strong feelings for each other. Too bad the killer has focused on gorgeous Conor, and if Alex doesn’t work fast, he’s going to lose the best thing he’s ever had.

Oh, such an exciting beginning to a series! I really loved the dynamic between Alex and Conor, plus the author has given me some secondary characters, Sergeant Higgs among them, to adore! The ending was wonderful, and just left me panting for the next book. Thank you, Lu!
