Book Review

With a focus on figuring out what it is the gorgeous sub really needs, this story is told from the Dom's point of view and gives insight into the kind of thought that goes into a caring D/s relationship. One that isn’t as easy as some, since Nikolai clearly has an issue with submitting, and if Darren cannot figure it out, he'll be pushed away like all the other Doms before him.

Nikolai is the life of the party, adored by the other subs, and loving the attention. He has a deep issue with really submitting though, and while he keeps trying, no Dom, so far, has succeeded to finish a scene with him, nor have they made him come back for more. I'm not sure what the problem is, but it could be as simple as broken trust or as difficult as a mental issue with submitting, while craving it physically. Either way I don’t think Nikolai knows himself very well, nor will he admit to what he does understand.

Darren is attracted to Nikolai, fist because he is gorgeous, then because his behavior intrigues him. He ends up watching him interact with other Doms to try to figure out what makes him tick. Ultimately, he wants Nikolai to become his boy, but he knows he'll have to earn that privilege. Nikolai may like to play but it is on his terms, and he never lets anyone go very far. When Darren finally makes his move, he enjoys the "pushiness" as much as Nikolai's honest physical reactions and one thing becomes clear to him very quickly: he really does want to make Nikolai his.

If you like highly erotic stories with a significant dollop of psychology thrown in, if you enjoy D/s situations around partners who get to know each other but are not having an easy time of it, and if a little pushiness and brattiness don’t throw you off, then you will probably like this short story.
