Cougar shifter Garrick has been shirking his duty of protecting humanity for too long. But no more. He will no longer mourn his mate. Besides, the witches that killed him are back, and Garrick’s sword is itching to stab them through the gullet.
When a human is attacked by the dark forces that plague the knights, Garrick realizes something that should be impossible.
His mate. This human is his mate reincarnated.
Oscar felt an extreme need to move to this small town, and one look into Garrick’s eyes proves to him it was all worth it. This was the man Oscar has been looking for his whole life, but the people who attacked him put something dark inside him—something that almost proves to be fatal for someone important to the knights. Just as Oscar and Garrick found each other again, they’re left with the terrifying fear that this darkness within Oscar might make their happily ever after impossible to achieve.
The saga of the immortal knights, a group of various types of shifters created to protect humans and shifters from evil, continues with yet another mate reincarnated and immediately attacked by the evil witch who caused all the group’s issues centuries earlier. Garrick is a cougar shifter and, much like a few of the other knights, has lost the will to work hard on his protective duties. Making sure the evil witches all die though – that he has no problem with. I can well imagine the loss of his beloved mate making him focus on revenge. But even when he finds his former mate, reborn as a man named Oscar, Garrick’s problems are by no means over.
Oscar was driven to move to the small town he now calls his home. He has no idea why, but he loves his job at the veterinary clinic. Then an odd occurrence changes his life forever. Something dark is inside him and it ends up making him behave strangely, and he has no idea why.
When Garrick finds Oscar, he is overjoyed, but the witches are still around and ready to pounce. Their MO has changed though, and it confuses Garrick. Kevin has no idea what is going on either – Oscar isn’t fully possessed, but something is definitely wrong. Garrick is a warrior and fighting with anything other than his sword is difficult for him, but he has to learn or lose his mate again.
If you like the idea of this series that pits immortal knights against evil witches, if a story full of frustration, the need to fight the unexpected, and more than one twist and turn is your thing, and if you’re looking for a read that continues the scary battle that began in the first three volumes of this series, then you might like this novella. I especially appreciated the unexpected news at the end!
