Book Blurb

It’s hard enough being an inn manager, serving at everyone’s beck and call, making sure all the guests are happy and the employees are paid on time. Add to that being a werewolf, a recovering alcoholic, and a pack leader. Add to that a brother who is trying to tear the pack apart and a dark past he can’t escape. Needless to say, Carl is under a lot of stress. Not helping: Justin, the inn’s human massage therapist—who Carl is trying not to fall for—has offered Carl a massage to “lower his stress levels.” As his boss, Carl can’t tell Justin his hands might lower stress levels, but they would raise something else.

Despite Carl trying to put him off, Justin won’t give in. Carl’s friends won’t leave him alone, and the divisions in the pack are near exploding. And it’s tourist season. The last thing Carl needs are wolf wars in the lobby. Like it or not, Carl is going to have to rely on Justin and the wolves who love him to teach him how to let go and get through everything without falling apart.

Book Review

I'm beginning to run out of ways to explain how much I love shifter stories. At this point I kind of figure if you don't know by now…well, you haven't been paying attention. 'Pressure Points' is book two in Silvia Violet's 'Pisgah Mountain Wolves' series and I was super excited to jump into Carl's story. So, come on and join me for some hot, animal attraction. *snort*

Carl is alpha for the Pisgah Mountain wolf pack. He is a recovering alcoholic still trying to get beyond the crush he had on Shane. Basically? Carl is lonely. He's the go-to guy for everyone and these days he's so stressed out he can't see straight. Justin, the resort's new summer massage therapist, isn't helping Carl's tension. Carl just wants to hold him down and slake his need, but Carl doesn't do humans, and certainly not one he's convinced would be insisting that Carl meditate and learn about chakras and his chi. No thanks. He'll pass. But when Justin finally gets Carl to agree to a five-minute chair massage, Carl practically turns into a limp noodle as his muscles release some tension. If you've never gotten a massage, you don't know what you're missing. Greatest thing ever!

Carl figures that since Justin is just a summer employee and he'll probably head somewhere else when the season is done, they can be friends with benefits but Carl doesn't want to get emotionally involved. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Carl's wolf clamors mine the first time they have sex. And, seriously? Hot, animal attraction doesn't even come close to Carl and Justin in bed, on the couch, in the shower, in the woods, on the floor. Get the picture? Steamy. Seriously steamy. Of course, Carl being a man, and a control freak (which totally explains part of his stress), he's so scared of showing Justin his animal side that Carl just gets more and more stressed. He's the hotel manager during peak tourist season, he's the pack alpha with a brother, Egan, who is quite a challenge, so it's no wonder Carl is suffering from headaches and popping antacids like it's nobody's business. His fear about falling apart when Justin leaves isn't helping the situation.

I think I liked this story even more than the first book. Justin is so perfect for Carl. Justin brings a calm and a peace to Carl that he's never found anywhere else. Because Justin is human, when Carl goes all "alpha-wolf", Justin just ignores him and says what he's thinking. So refreshing and absolutely a must for a stressed out pack leader. When Egan starts a fight with Carl at the full moon celebration, Carl is forced to banish Egan from the pack. The only good that comes from that is an actual conversation and the beginnings of understanding between the brothers. But Carl still feels like a failure as a brother and a pack leader. Typical man he decides the best thing to do is to end it with Justin. Yeah, I know. Their brains defy logic. *grins*

Yep, it's official. I totally loved this book. I'm adding Carl and Justin to my list of favorite characters. Now I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment and I really hope it's Egan and Alex's story.
