Book Blurb

Sully Handover’s a pure-blooded vampire reluctantly groomed to be a courtesan to humans. He’s spent a lifetime believing humans are lesser beings, but when he’s chosen by the gorgeous and kind Master Adrian, he might have to rethink that theory. Especially since he can’t stop secretly lusting after his new master.

Book Review

A world in which humans and vampires almost ended each other's existence is not that difficult to imagine. In this world the author has developed, they now live in a negotiated truce where the humans provide females to carry the vampires' young, and the vampires provide lovers for the humans who can afford them. It all sounds very equitable – until you begin to look at a young vampire who might have been raised to become a courtesan, but does not want to do as he has been taught…

Sully is that young vampire. Chosen to go to his new master a year early on top of everything else, he is rebellious and defiant. Mainly because he believes himself superior to humans, but there is a good piece of resentment against the whole idea of being sent away from everyone he knows. I wasn't sure if I admired him for having the courage to speak up or thought he was unnecessarily stupid for risking his life… but in the end, I was relieved he got the chance to learn and form his own opinion about the human who took him into his household

Adrian is the human who took Sully on because he was so defiant – an admirable, if slightly risky approach. I liked Adrian from the start – it was very clear to me (if not to Sully) that he is an honorable man and not interested in a save. In fact, once he opens up and tells Sully what he is really looking for, a lot more abut this world they both live in became obvious to me and made this story even more interesting.

If you like paranormal stories with a slightly futuristic slant, if you enjoy finding out the "rules" as you read and get to know the characters, and if you're looking for a short, hot read where both characters learn a little from each other, then you will probably like this short story.
