Book Review

‘Out of the Frying Pan’ is full of old grudges, second chances, hot firemen, and emotions so volatile they might explode any second and cause some real damage. Jenson and Sloane have history, and since their affair did not end well, they are still upset many years later. Both of them think they are right, neither of them is about to give an inch, and yet they are forced to face each other - and the truth – because work has thrown them together with nowhere to run to. The heat between them sizzles right back into existence the minute they lay eyes on each other, but neither of them is willing to admit it.

Jenson is captain of a small fire station in Colorado and he loves his job. He is not exactly a fan of the occasional training sessions he and his men have to go through, but it is part of the job and helps them stay on top of new developments and keeps their skills sharp. When he sees Sloane’s name on the list of the upcoming sessions, he is shocked, angry, and determined to make life hell for Sloane. Between the attraction that flares right back up the second they lay eyes on each other and the real anger Jenson still feels for what he sees as Sloane’s betrayal, the intensity ratchets up faster than I was able to blink.

Sloane knows he is innocent, he never did what Jenson accused him of, but there is no way he can prove it. He did not expect ever to see Jenson again, so having to face him when the man walks into his training session is a shock. Sloane never managed to forget Jenson, and despite the betrayal he felt when Jenson accused him of tampering with equipment, he is grateful for another chance. But he knows it won’t be easy, so he mentally prepares himself for a fierce battle.

If you like hot firemen and hotter tempers, if you enjoy watching two men who clearly love each other fight their way to seeing the truth, and if you’re looking for an action-packed read with emotions that run high from page one, then you will probably like this novella.
