Orlin didn't know when he put himself up for sale that he would be responsible for changing a kingdom.
Broke and homeless, Orlin puts himself up for sale as a pet. Approached by his new Master, Orlin decides maybe being owned by a gorgeous king wouldn't be fate worse than death. He doesn't expect to become the one person who changes the views of an entire kingdom...or to be more than a lover for the man who buys him.
At first sight of the sexy oiled sub, Aester Fall knows he's not leaving until Orlin belongs to him. He might be hanging on to his kingdom by his fingernails but he knows some things are worth the fight. When he returns home with Orlin, he learns his new pet might not be as pet-like as he first appeared.
Neither man expects to change the fate of a world…much less two of them.
Publisher's Note: This book was previously released under the same title. It has been re-edited for re-release with Pride Publishing.
This second book in the series continues the trend of mated royals. This time a poor prince needs to sell himself so he can survive. He doesn’t expect to gain his magical abilities, which is only supposed to happen when he finds his mate. The surprise when he not only discovers his talent but also has the ‘king tattoo’ is significant and the fact his new master doesn’t even believe in magic promises a lot of fun right from the start.
Orlin discovers he is more self-sufficient than he believes. He doesn’t even know how to behave as a pet, and I laughed at his tentative attempts; no real Master would have believed him either. He tends to overreact and get himself into more trouble than should be possible, but that makes for a very entertaining read.
Aester, the king who hopes to find his mate when he buys Orlin, doesn’t quite know what to think of his new pet. He is also rather trusting, and has no idea what really goes on in his own palace. Thankfully, Orlin’s adventures, as much as they upset him, also lead to some realizations for Aester. This really is a case of the two mates needing each other more than they thought.
The series tagline: “Being strong doesn’t mean you don’t need anyone.” goes into a slight variation here. The best way to describe this story is “Being a born ruler doesn’t mean you don’t need anyone.” There is no real BDSM here, even though Aester tries to act like a dominant, he longs for an equal partner. If you’re looking for a light read, a few laughs, and a touch of magic, you will probably like this book.
