‘Opposing Forces’ is a look at what might happen when men who start out with the best of intentions are derailed by the unexpected to the point where nothing they believed in seems to be true any longer. Paz and Nikki worked on reconstructive surgery and healing injuries through nanotechnology when a horrific accident almost killed them both. And while Paz had spirituality on his side and was able to retain his inner humanity despite his scarred body, Nikki was not so lucky and became a rogue who sees himself as disfigured and no longer human. This is the story of how the former lovers attempt to undo the damage that changed their lives forever, forcing them to deal with pain and vulnerabilities neither of them finds easy to confront.

Paz has overcome the effects of the explosion that almost killed him by turning toward doing good since he still believes in justice. Nikki was not so lucky – he fell into the hands of the cruel Dr. Zeus, their former boss, was experimented on, and is now more machine than man. Paz is determined to show Nikki the error of his ways and sets out to remind him of the love (and kinkiness!) they used to share. It is a very risky proposition, but what choice does Paz have? He has to try…

If you like stories that look critically at what makes us human – including superheroes, if you want to watch two former lovers who have been through hell reconnect with the help of technology and one very determined research assistant, and if you’re looking for a thought-provoking story with quite a few surprises, then you will probably like this novella.
