In this series of people selling their soul to get something they want, then having to pay their debt to the demons who come to collect, there have been a few interesting permutations of the old “Faustian deal”. In this installment, it is Jordie who wants to be successful at selling the songs he writes and who is not looking forward to the three-yearly visit where it has been a different demon popping up every time to sexually use him for a week.

This year feels different from the start: Mal is super good-looking, just a touch more considerate than his predecessors, and there is some sort of a bond between them from the start. Add the heat they generate between them and Jordie’s sense of humor, and this makes for quite the erotic adventure! But what I really, really liked was the fact that Mal has his own issues to deal with, and the way in which Julia Talbot revealed this step by step kept me entertained as well as just a little on the edge of suspense.

If you like your stories short, erotic, and with a touch of mystery, if you believe demons deserve happy endings just as much as mortals, and if you’re looking for a read that combines humor and scorching heat really well, then you will probably like this short story.
