Book Blurb

Braxton “Brax” O'Hara is a shifter, a PI ... and an art thief. He has no problem with being all three. As a matter of fact, he likes his less than legal job.

Kyle Grayson is a member of an all-shifter art crimes team. He does everything within his power to catch the thieves he's after, and believes he's found his next quarry -- Brax O'Hara.

Things take a turn for the worse when Russo, Brax's partner in crime, wants him to retrieve some blackmail pictures instead of a piece of art. At the same time, Kyle comes into the picture. When the two men meet, they discover they both know the blackmailer -- and they both hate him, too, for different reasons.

Can they stop Russo, a powerful Alpha shifter? More to the point, can they deal with their attraction to each other when they have nothing in common except Russo?

Book Review

Art thieves, an all-shifter art crimes team, and a somewhat shady character make up the basic elements of this story and I was hooked from the moment I read the blurb. I have very much enjoyed this author’s previous books involving art crimes, and to have shifters added into the mix can only make things more interesting, right? And in this world, shifters are not generally known to exist and they have some other unusual abilities as well, so I was sure there’d be some interesting surprises. But I had no idea what wonderful twists and turns, shifter politics, and cunning plans this book had in store for me, and I enjoyed every second of the unfolding drama.

Brax is an interesting guy. He steals art for a fellow shifter, while also running a PI agency and doesn’t seem to have an issue with the contradiction. His shifter abilities make it easy for him to steal things that no human could get their hands on without being caught, but when his associate asks him to do an unusual job, one that involves a common enemy and blackmail, things change for Brax.

Kyle is like the shifter version of the FBI, and he is pretty sure that the thief he has been trying to catch is a shifter. Not that he can share this with the human police, but he quickly identifies Brax as a suspect after studying three recent thefts and is pretty certain he can catch Brax on his own. Except it is more complicated than he expects – and that is before he begins to fall for his quarry.

With quite a few twists and turns, interesting characters, questionable morals, and more than one adventure as the chase develops, the story of Brax and Kyle is more than a romance. It’s a great demonstration of the fact that a common enemy has the potential to make allies out of the most unlikely individuals. It’s a tale about two men who never expected to find a partner they could fall in love with, and yet end up with someone they seem to have nothing in common with. It’s also a cleverly constructed riddle hidden in a mystery that might just keep you guessing.

If you like mysteries involving art, if you enjoy unusual shifter stories with changing alliances and lots of intrigue, and if you’re looking for an entertaining, slightly mind-bending read with a passionate romance on the side, then you will probably like this novel.
