What is “normal”?

When Brandon Kenner shows up at Kasey Ralston’s garage with a 1970 Chevelle SS 454, Kasey is smitten by both the man and his car. But Kasey is hiding an embarrassing secret: his love for old muscle cars goes beyond what most would consider normal. His unusual fetish has kept Kasey isolated—estranged from his family and even distant from his coworkers.

But when Brandon figures out the hot mechanic’s secret, he’s not repulsed. In fact, he finds Kasey intriguing, and he’s determined to have him for himself.

Everything about Brandon revs Kasey’s engine, and he’s more than willing to get down and dirty with the charming man. What worries Kasey is what will happen after. Is there any chance of a future for them? In the past, expecting anything long-term has only led to heartbreak. But Kasey can’t help hoping that, despite Kasey’s fetish, Brandon will be the exception.

Book Review

I do enjoy a hot, sexy story involving a fetish. Now, I hesitate to tell what Kasey's fetish is, but believe me when I say I didn't think it was weird. I thought it was hot. Normal is a relative term and I try to use it very sparingly. What's normal to me might not be to someone else and vice versa. 'Normal Enough' by Marie Sexton is, surprisingly, a sweet short story mixed in with all the combustible sex you can imagine.

Kasey can't believe it when he meets Brandon and Brandon doesn't think Kasey is a freak or abnormal because of Kasey's desire. In fact, Brandon encourages it, and even wants to spend more time with Kasey. Kasey is almost in shock since he stays far away from people as they usually make him feel stupid or they ridicule him. Kasey doesn't see the gorgeous man that Brandon sees when he looks at Kasey. But, somehow, Kasey begins to open up to Brandon about his sad and lonely childhood, his older brothers who left him an outcast, and his fear that his dad wasn't really his dad. Kasey is shocked to discover that Brandon grew up in a household much like Kasey's and Brandon never fit in there.

You might not believe me when I say that this is a sweet and gentle, albeit sizzling, love story, but it really is. Brandon is so patient and understanding with Kasey's shyness and social anxiety. The fact that Brandon has been in relationships with other men who had unusual fetishes, and that Brandon admits that he's hot for people with fetishes, is reassuring for Kasey, in a way. Kasey learns a lot about himself, through his own introspection, and I adored watching him "find" himself.

A wonderful short story that is super sexy and volatile. I look forward to re-reading it often!
