Book Review

Flashbacks and panic attacks are no joking matter, and anyone who has suffered from one or the other knows this. There are many different reasons for them, and as Ryan in this story proves, the cause doesn’t always have to be the kind of trauma a soldier goes through when fighting in an active war zone.

Daniel is a former soldier, and the flashbacks he suffers almost every night make it hard for him to get the restful sleep he needs. The description of his emotional upset and disorientation when he wakes from one of his nightmares pulled me in and made me feel for him. You’d have to be an incredibly strong individual to get through something like this without completely losing it. His current job selling menswear may not be super stressful, but when an angry customer storms in and starts yelling, he causes Daniel to have one of his panic attacks. Luckily his coworker Ryan is there for him and knows exactly what to do.

Ryan may not have fought in a war, but he has been through some traumatic events and knows exactly what Daniel goes through His calm and supportive attitude is like a balm on Daniel’s mental and emotional wounds, and once Ryan has calmed him down, they have time for more enjoyable activities.

If you like short, hot stories with a focus on men getting together after having eyed each other for a while, if you enjoy watching as two wounded souls find comfort through emotional and physical support, and if you’re looking for a short, fun read that will probably make you smile, then you might like this short story.
