Book Blurb

Identical twins Alexei and Vasily have been fulfilling fantasies for customers of the Kline Agency for the past five years. Not only does the Kline allow them to work together, but with the money they make they are able to pay down the debt their older brother left behind.

Until the debt is paid, the brothers have pledged not to fall in love. But when a new client, Kane, requests the twins, Vasily can't join Alexei, and Alexei goes out on his own. Alexei has to admit he is more than a little interested in their handsome new client. Keeping their pledge to share equally, Vasily goes on their second date alone, pretending to be Alexei. To his surprise, he, too is smitten.

Kane Thatcher has been looking for Vasily for more than five years. They were once lovers, though Vasily has no memory of him, due to a head injury sustained at the hands of the vicious Noch gang.

As his memories slowly return under Kane's careful guidance, Vasily becomes determined to end their debt to the Noch Gang here and now -- a decision that may cost them all more than they're willing to pay.

Book Review

The Kline Agency is home to a widely varying group of escorts, as the last three books in the series showed. In this fourth volume, the focus is on a set of twins, Alexei and Vasily, who are only in the escort business to make enough money so they can pay off their older brother’s debt to the Noch gang. Their lives are in more danger than they realize, for the Russian gang is not forgiving and the twins are about to break one of their agreements with the thugs – without even knowing it.

Vasily is the more careful twin, and I don’t blame him. He was captured and tortured by the Noch gang five years ago, just because they wanted to make the point that they were serious about wanting the twins to take over the debt payments after their older brother’s death. Due to a head injury, Vasily has forgotten most of his previous life and he has been careful ever since, never goes on an assignment without Alexei, and has not been interested in a man in all the time they’ve been working to obtain their freedom. So when he feels attracted to Kane, he is shocked.

Alexei is outgoing, daring, and a total flirt. He is the one to meet Kane first and professes interest, but he is clearly trying to make sure Vasily meets Kane as well. I was wondering why – beyond the fact that the twins are imagining sharing Kane. As much as they are not into each other, Alexei has played with the idea of sharing a lover before, and Kane seems to be the perfect opportunity. But there is far more going on than Alexei can imagine, and all his plans go out the window once Alexei is shot. One revelation follows another, and the solution to the twins’ issues – amorous and otherwise – was surprising, but very fitting.

If you’re looking for a story centered around identical twins who want very different things from life, if you like dark, mysterious goings-on, and if you’re looking for a somewhat suspenseful read with a few twists and some hot men, then you will probably like this short story.
