Book Blurb

Uncle Darryl is looking for a birthday gift for his niece, and a game he wanted to play as a kid has brought back memories. He ordered Mystery Date, and when it arrived he opened it and started playing with it. As soon as he opened the game’s door, there was a knock on his door, and it was the man from the game. He was ready for a hot date. Who would be behind the door then next time he opens it? Who would be his Mystery Date?

Book Review

With just a hint of the possibly magical, this is a great story about long-held wishes finally coming true. While Darryl pines after the "Mystery Date" game to work for him, when it does once he is all grown up, it is definitely worth the wait.

I liked the description of why he thought it was so fascinating in the first place. Surrounded by girls when he grew up, there weren't many interests he shared with them. The mysterious dating game, however, where you get to meet a surprise-man by turning a wheel and opening a small plastic door, fascinated him even as a boy. Now all grown up, he finally finds and excuse to buy one: his niece turns six, so he feels justified in buying one – for her, of course.

Once he has the game in his condo though, there is no stopping him. He is shocked when there is a knock on his door seconds after he's opened the game's door to reveal a blond hunk. The man who turns up at his real door is just as hunky, and while there is a perfectly rational explanation for what happens on this and all the subsequent "mystery dates", I want to go with the more magical, fantastical version of events.

If you like stories that could be real, but could equally be magical, if you enjoy reading about hot man-on-man activity at first sight, and if you're looking for a short, hot read with a touch of the supernatural, you will probably like this short story.
