Book Blurb

Going undercover to find the commander of his marine unit was supposed to be the easy part. When his cover is blown, Lieutenant Bill Harrison doesn’t know whether to hold on for the dangerous ride or jump. With a drug lord determined to take them out, Bill has to rely on his skills and the sexy guardian angel sent to save him.

DEA Agent Angelo Martinez is pissed when he’s pulled off his current assignment to go rescue some marine in trouble. Rescuing Bill turns out to be tougher than any undercover mission Angelo ever went on. Besides the fact that Bill is gorgeous, the man makes Angel reconsider his lonely lifestyle. And that makes Bill just as dangerous as the drug lord hunting them.

When rescue comes for both of them, Angelo knows he has to find the strength to give up the only man that ever made him think about giving up his undercover work. And Bill has to find the strength to let Angelo go, hoping that his guardian angel will find his way home.

Book Review

I was looking forward to Bill's story, since he was somewhat of an enigma in previous books. And after both his younger brothers (John Henry in book one, and Robby in book two) had found true love, I was hoping he would join them. In typical Marine fashion, he does not do it quietly, nor is the undertaking without obstacles. As for the man he chooses? Angelo may be small in stature, but he is more than worthy in terms of willpower, stubbornness, and determination.

Bill is determined to find out where his former commander, Harley, has vanished to and ends up in the middle of a drug lord's operation in Central America. While he doesn’t (yet) find the commander, he does encounter one very sexy DEA agent. Or rather, Angelo finds him, telling him his cover is blown. Not one to give up easily, Bill recognizes that it's time to get out and follow's Angelo's lead. As they battle the drug lord and his goons, they fall for each other, but neither can really admit it since they know they'll have to separate at the end of the assignment.

Angelo cannot understand why he's attracted to the big Marine, but the fact that Bill treats him with respect, is an extremely loyal friend, and is a reliable partner in fighting crime may have something to do with it. Angelo also isn't ready to stop being an undercover agent, so he sees no way the two of them can be together. It takes a major crisis and him on death's doorstep for him to start seeing things might have to change after all.

If you like books about men who are made for each other but take quite some time until they recognize and admit it, if you enjoy the physically smaller man being just as much in charge as the larger one, and if you're looking for a tension-filled, hot read, then you will probably like this novella.
