Toby and Damon’s whirlwind romance continues, but can they find a balance between love and work? Do they even want to?
Toby can scarcely believe that his life has changed so much in less than two weeks, but it has. His predictable little life has gone from routine to sexually adventurous in a matter of days. And to be honest, he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Damon’s just as into Toby, more interested in exploring with his new lover than spending all his time at the bar. Luckily things are running fairly smoothly there with his hand only occasionally needed on the rudder.
Their idyllic love affair has a few bumps to withstand, though, in the form of an intruder with a gun. Can Toby and Damon survive what happens next?
It was good to see sculptor Toby and bar owner Damon again in this super-hot sequel to ‘Malting’. Toby has left “comfortable” and “predictable” so far behind that he has trouble recognizing himself sometimes. Damon delights in finding new ways to challenge Toby’s idea of what life should be like. Their romance is beginning to turn into a relationship, and while Damon can’t wait for them to get even closer, Toby is still adjusting to the idea of sharing all of his life with Damon. This second book of the ‘Beer and Clay’ series focuses on the further exploration of some of the naughtiness Toby has fantasized about for many years.
Toby has only spent two weeks playing sexual games with Damon, but it feels like a lot longer. He is learning to experiment, and liking what they do, but he is also beginning to understand there is more to Damon than what they get up to in the bedroom. Or any of the other places their physical activities take them, for that matter. Toby is still not sure that some of what he wants isn’t “forbidden” or will make him look bad. But he is also beginning to trust Damon enough to let himself go. And when some stranger intrudes, threatening him with a gun, Toby is not going to let Damon come to harm, whatever it takes.
Damon can’t believe it took him three years to approach Toby. He admires him as an artist, and he is beginning to adore him as a lover. Everything new he tries evokes interesting reactions from Toby, and Damon just loves to push the man he is already thinking of as his boy. Be it the plugs he makes Toby wear or the “threat” of a spanking, Damon will use anything to help Toby relax or be more focused when he works on his sculptures, whatever Toby needs. But when Toby has to suffer the consequences of protecting Damon from an attack, Damon has his work cut out for him.
If you like Toby and Damon and the sexy explorations they get up to, if you enjoy an experienced Dom teaching a wide-eyed sub about the pleasure to be had when submitting, and if you’re looking for a light, hot read with a somewhat shocking event that wakes up everyone, then you will probably like this novella.
